After over 50 years of loading with the built in lever, I sprung and ordered
a cylinder loader from Powder Inc. I polished it up a little, tried to blue it.
I didn't get the Rem. pin so I just made one from a 1/4 20 thread bolt.
Works GREAT! Yes they are sending me one. I think I will like this.

I see a mod I am going to make tommorrow. The brass seating jag needs to
be cut in half so when the ball is seated the steel loading rod will bottom out
on the face of the cylinder. This will result in the ball being seated to the
same depth each time resulting in greater accuracy.

Why promote steel contacting steel if loading with black powder that could also scar the cylinder?
Maybe a bushing with a brass pin or an oversize washer could be installed to serve as an adjustable indexed ram stop?
Is the brass part of the ram threaded to be able to make some room above it for a bushing or a group of washers after it has been shortened?

I've had that same loader for several years. Great tool.

I suggest indexing the jag rather than sectioning it for loading depth. I use my loader on several different guns, everything from pocket revolvers to a Walker. I indexed the jags for the 'optimum' depth for each gun - problem is remembering which mark is for what gun. Need to take careful notes...and not lose them.

Arcticap - yes, the brass jag is threaded.

A Bushing on the Jag could also be used...Set Screw in the Bushing...stamp each Bushing for the Gun who's Cylinder it co-responds with.

I keep wanting to get one of these!

Then some of me thinks "Heck, just make one!"

Shy on time for making things...

Ohhhhhh, what to do...

Well dummy me I just found out it already has a built in seating jag adjustment. All you have to do is loosen the little allen set screw on the back
of the rammer holding plate and slide it up or down to get the proper seating
depth you want!! Tighten it and forget it. Works perfect.

So then slipping shims under the collar would allow small adjustments to be made without needing to loosen the set screw. That's probably not necessary anyway but just a thought.

Yes, That would work or use washers on the rammer itself. It was just easier
to slide the plate up a little to get my seating depth.

All we need now to make it perfect is to have him make a wadcutter attachment!!!!!

I wonder if a wad cutter head could be made by drilling a hole in the end of a hammer driven punch and tapping it to match the threads on the end of the loader arm? Put a piece of cutting board plastic or the end of a piece of hard wood as the stop, so the cutter bites into the plastic/wood to sever the felt? It might not have enough compound leverage to cut through like that.
