Oh happy days! :D

For a long, long, long time I've been wanting to buy a MSAR stg.556 and today that dream has been realized! I feel like I finally have the gun that has always been missing from y collection, probably because ever since I was child the Steyr Aug has always been one of my all time favorite firearms.

Anyway I was planing to buy a MSAR sometime this year but I didn't think it would happen so soon. I went in to my local shop yesterday to ask if they could order one for me or if they were getting any in, his response 'funny you should ask I ordered one and it's supposed to be in on Friday!"

I asked about the one he ordered because if I'm going to spend that kind of money I want to be sure it's the one I really want. He said it was the flat top model in OD green with 16in barrel and without the forward assist and that exactly what I was wanting. So I told him to hold it for me and I would be in to pick it up on Friday, he said sure thing.

Well Friday came and as luck would have it I arrived just as the UPS person was entering the store, on his cart was a box I just knew had to be my MSAR. Sure enough we opened the box and inside was my new family member. All the store employees as well as every customer was drooling over it.

The gun didn't come cheap but I ended up selling my FN Five-Seven pistol that I had purchased not too long ago to a friend recently so I had some money to put towards something else. It's not that I didn't like the Five-Seven I just wanted the stg.556 more and decided it was one or the other, besides my buddy was more in love the the Five-Seven than even I was. It didn't pay off the whole sum of the MSAR but it knocked off a good portion of the cost.

Anyway I had to go to work right after I bought it so as of yet I have no pics to share but I'll try and get some posted here after I get off work tonight if it isn't too late. I also plan on taking her out on our first date this Sunday so I'll give a range report after that.

Congrats! Now wipe the customer/employee drool out of it and take it to the range!

Got to take her out today for the first time! I put 100 Silver Bear rounds through it and I couldn't be happier with how it handled. The ergonomics of this rifle are make it incredibly printable and comfortable to shoulder. The recoil is very mild and the accuracy seems quite good, although I was only shooting out to about 100 yards, I think my Aimpoint needed more adjustment I didn't spend much time sighting it in. Today was just a day to cycle a few rounds through it and see how it felt.

When I got home I disassembled it for the first time. It's surprisingly easy to take apart and you can remove all the components without any tools. Slide out the barrel, slide out the receiver, pop the butt plate off and remove the trigger housing, that's about all you have to do and you're left with an empty stock. With a little practice I could probably have the whole thing disassembled in easily well under a minute.

Cleaning was a breeze and in no time at all the whole thing is back together again and ready to shoot!

Overall the MSAR stg.556 gets a big thumbs up and has earned itself a place at the top of my gun collection! Of all the dozens of rifles I've owned over the years I think this rifle is the one I'm most excited about and it lived up to or surpassed all my expectations! Was it worth the hefty price tag? In my book it was worth every penny!

Well if anyones feeling generous, I'll be becoming a US citizen in 17 months, you know, that sure would make a great citizenship present, hint hint hint... LOL I'm kidding..

Nice rifle, paint me jealous!
