I just got this e-mail back from my congressman down here in Nashville, Tn

Dear Mr. Ladd:

Thanks for getting in touch with me with your thoughts on the renewal of the
1994 Assault Weapons Ban. I agree with you. I did not vote for the Assault
Weapons Ban when it was passed by Congress in 1994 and I do not support its
extension now. I also do not support the efforts of some gun-control advocates
who want to expand the scope of the current law.

I appreciate your interest in this important issue. I will keep your views in
mind when making decisions on this topic in the future.
Sincerely,

Jim Cooper
Member of Congress

Good news!

Now if Feinstein would send me something other than a form letter....

Wish I could have had the same response from my Senator Nelson (D-FL) who voted for the AWB amendment. Instead I got this tripe:

****
"Thank you for contacting me regarding S. 1805, the Protection of
Lawful Commerce in Arms Act. As you know, S. 1805 seeks to prohibit third-party civil liability actions against gun manufacturers, distributors, dealers, and importers when guns are misused. [ blah blah just repeating history ]. Despite intense debate of this
legislation, it failed on final passage. [ no spit, Sherlock! ]
While I support the constitutional right to bear arms, I also support
efforts to reduce gun violence and promote firearms safety. Every effort
must be made to ensure that our children, and society at large, are
protected from firearms violence.
Sincerely,
Bill Nelson

I am more convinced than ever that this guy is just another political hack who will do anything to stay in office. I am quite sure he reads the polls each day and decides how to vote based on them. Which makes him potentially more sway-able in terms of not renewing the AWB.
