Gov. Cuomo buy back program/confiscation

If I understand this proposal correctly, gun-owning NY citizens would end up allowing their state to spend their own tax dollars to buy back their own weapons from them. Stranger things have happened, but I really doubt this one will go very far.

The state doesn't have to buy them back. They just outlaw them and its up to you to get rid of them. Isn't that what California did?

The Fed is different, there are laws against doing things like that.

leave your friends you've had since you were a kid, your parents, aging grandmother or grandfather, brothers or sisters, a steady job, your home. etc. I get the argument and may have to pick and go but its not like finding a new home is like buying a cup of coffee. These laws are rotting NYS and can or will start rotting other states too. And what happens when your state starts with talk like that too. Dont kid yourself you have the same politicians as NY maybe not as many but they are there just waiting.

I fully understand what leaving means, and it would be a difficult choice to say the least.

But I refuse to live under such oppressive forces.

Those politicians are everywhere and they are waiting...waiting for more Blue staters to pack up and move to their Red state so they can get their Blue numbers up.

I've got nothing against people moving around...it's a free country...but the problem is Blue people leave their states but bring their crappy politics with them to the Red state...the politics that caused the problems in the first place. Then they wonder why it's the same everywhere they go.

Apache Man, I"m one Red Blue Stater that you would love to have in Texas. They couldn't afford a buy back of 50 cals when they were thinking of outlawing them a few years ago. What they thought was $500 per gun was in fact 5k+ with thousands of 50 cals out there. When they realized the math didn't work they pulled the bill.

Well that used to be home for me a long while back...originally from the City. I left, missed it for a while, then missed some parts of it for a while, and now I'm never going back.

To quote smalls:

But I refuse to live under such oppressive forces.

We have plenty of freedom here in Texas, and it's a great big place. If I get a yearning for the city life, I just roll over to Austin for a day and then go home when I'm done.

Need to be respectful about other peoples homes. Easy to say move, not always easy to do.

Regarding NY and NJ for that matter, both are dominated by dense urban areas that color the states blue. But head upstate, or Northwest NJ, or even the far end of the Island and it gets as red as Texas. Well some of Texas - you guys have Austin right?

As far as taking the guns, that'd be interesting, but won't happen. They will just do what they did in NJ with the AWB - outlaw, wait six months then crucify a blue collar guy or three, who hung onto their dead his grandpas 20 round 22lr squirel gun for sentimental reasons.

Maybe ruin a few lives of folks traveling through the state using the same laws for good measure.

Betcha that would work real nice and quiet like . . . .

Just a cynical observation. I know logic doesn't play into any of the things the anti's want to do, but how ironic would it be to outlaw "military style semi-autos", but the NFA machine guns that are in circulation now would still be around for purchase, providing you had the money and wanted to deal with the paperwork.

When the Marxist Socialist inspired politicians demand you turn in your private property to them, you'd better do it or they'll either throw you in prison, or kill you when they come to arrest you.

That's the way it works.

Like I said, I'm usually the one telling people to stay and fight. But when they come around confiscating your property, you've lost the fight, it's time to move.

There is a video on YouTube called " gun ban in Europe " and it shows all the people trying to get their rights back because they realized they messed up by not worrying. If those anti gun people watched that and other real videos and not the us media they would think very different. I don't know how to link things or I'd show it everywhere I could.

NFA are not allowed in NY at all.

reminds me of a guy i talked to at the range before the 2008 election,i asked him if they did a confiscation program would he turn in his guns. he said yes, because little fat men dont do good in jail :D......

I dont think nys can afford to buy back all these guns.....

They don't have to pay you cash.

They just give you a voucher for "tax relief."

To be effective in the year following the significant escalation of your tax rates -- which will righteously be used to provide "government services" for those in need.

If anybody thinks they are going to get a significant confiscation-payment check from Albany, they need to be drug-tested.
