NY Gov Cuomo Says "Confiscation Could Be An Option"

If confiscation was stopped in New Orleans, why does he think it will be allowed in NY? He's basically mouthing off to placate his electorate. What really does have me concerned are those who think it's already a slam dunk and will happen.

Apparently a grasp of Constitutional rights and the illegality of what Cuomo is suggesting isn't clear to them. If you think it can happen here, then you aren't supporting the right people in office, and apparently expect that judges with a true sense of Constitutional law aren't on the bench. Unfortunately, that paints a revealing picture of the problem. Some have given up already and are lining up to turn their guns in. We haven't even read any proposed legislation that may be introduced to Congress, and some are posting they think it's already a done deal.

Nice to know who we can count on. The game is scheduled for next year, and some of the players already know we are going to lose? Come on, not even Royals fans do that. Ok, that's a bad example. Chiefs! No, wait . . .

Cuomo indicated the state will likely force some kind of permit process on owners of semi-automatic “assault weapons.” In addition to generating revenue and expanding the size and reach of government, the effort will allow the state to confiscate the weapons of citizens who do not comply.

Threatening confiscation is just a dramatic opening gambit so Cuomo can bargain down to what he really wants - money and power.

As a resident, I called and voiced my opinion to his office. The lady said I was only one of a few interested in preserving gun rights. I hope more of you call to stand up to this.

Yes, NY already has an "assault weapons" ban. We can still have them, but they can't have "evil" features like flash suppressors, bayonet lugs, collapsible stocks, or mags exceeding 10 rounds. I didn't expect this from Cuomo either, but the tail wags the dog in NY. He won't need to know who owns anything, he can just create a registration system, require all owners to register, and, if you don't, you have committed a crime and the offending items can be confiscated with no compensation. I would expect it will also cost you your 2nd amendment rights, all your other firearms, and at least a year in jail. We already have to register our handguns, so the system is already in place.

Didn't Andy's dad say something about hunters using the hunt as an excuse to get drunk and cheat on their wives?

So to preface anything that follows:

A) I would describe myself as a political moderate that leans right or libertarian on most issues (and favor the liberatarian side when those two descriptors don't sync up).

B) I am against any forms of discrimination based on color, creed, sex, sexual preference, or anything else along those lines.

That said, isn't Cuomo basically just quoting, or at least expressing the same sentiments, from the beginning of The Turner Diaries? (Obviously the government side of that, not the urban guerilla/terrorist response.) Post-OK City bombing back in the day I started to read a copy to see what was in this book that the media was suddenly talking about daily for a while and frankly I didn't get too far partly because of A and B above and partly because it just didn't seem too well written. But my recollection is that the book opens with gun confiscation kicking off.

He won't need to know who owns anything, he can just create a registration system, require all owners to register, and

...and then declare that the registered firearms are now banned, and use the registration lists to start knocking on owners' doors and seizing firearms.

In other words, the exact same thing California did.

I do see semi-automatics being banned period. As well as a 7rd magazine limit.

What good is the magazine without the gun???
