For some reason finding a GP-100 around here has become increasingly difficult. I finally found one local place that has a 4" stainless model and they're asking $539.99 for it. Is that a fair price? What are they going for in your neck of the woods?

I live in Southern Michigan and just bought a GP100 4" stainless last week. Prices ranged from $579 to $529. I checked out Gunbrokers.com. Found one NIB for $489 and this included 2nd day air free. Ordered it from New Mexico on Wednesday and it was here Friday morning. With FFL fee it cost me a total of $509. Sure is a beautiful handgun.

If I could find a used stainless GP-100 around here (SC) for $300 I'd jump all over it. The good thing about used GP-100's is no matter how many rounds have been put through it you know it will still have MANY more years of service left.

I just bought mine for $529.99. NIB 4 inch stainless. In my area you can forget about used. They just do not exist. I went to several gun shows before I bought new and could not find any GP100s at all used. I actually had a hard time buying a new one. I wanted Blued but nobody had one. I bought a stainless that was at the local gun store. I havent seen another one since I bought mine and I go to a lot of gun stores and that was two months ago. Revolvers in my area are still very popular and go quickly since I live in a rural area and a lot of people use revolvers for woods guns. I think the price is fair so I wouldnt worry about that. The only way I would sleep on it is if there are used ones in your area.

I've had several GP100's go through my hands. My most recent purchases of them were a 4" and a 6", both stainless. Both were purchased in like new condition. I doubt the 4" was even fired as I found the original receipt in the box indicating that it had been purchased new just a couple months before I got it.

I paid $350 (with Bianchi leather holster) for the 6" and $375 for the 4". I consider both to be excellent deals. The trick is that when I buy a gun I am generally not specifically looking for it. I just pick up guns when I find good deals on them.

Not that you can always wait on what you want, but you will always find better deals by buying them when the opportunity arises instead of when you desire a specific one.

I wouldn't pay over $450.00 for an excellent condition GP100, and that is if I was specifically looking for one and had to have it.

    Hi,
I paid less than a year ago $400 for a GP100 4 inch Stainless. But right now they are in the $550 for a blued version and $575 for a Stainless.

    Regards,

Bought a near new SS GP100 in '06 for $325.

Bought a near new blued in '09 for $300.

Bought a used and lightly pitted one last week for $315.

Just missed a SS one for $350 last week.

There are deals out there. I agree with jscott. I'm not hunting for anything specific so I find great deals all the time.

Maryland, bought one 2 months ago. New 4" stainless was $639, but that shop is always expensive. The only FFL guy I know charges $100 for a handgun, so by the time I had one shipped here from somewhere else it would have been that much anyway. Saw Bass Pro had it for about $550 after the fact.

You know, you might want to find another one somewhere, as we pay $25-$35 around here for a transfer. ;)

Be careful with these cheapo FFL's as they might charge sales tax. My FFL charges $150 for anything out the door.

I just bought a 6" SS a couple of months ago. I was told Ruger had just raised their prices so I had to pay $585 here in NW Illinois,no other costs or transfer fees bought the gun just as it was being unloaded by FedX and took possession 3 days later. But I knew what I wanted ever since I first picked up a used one in a gun shop and would have paid more:rolleyes: Something spooked me about buying the used one so I went for brand new. I am very happy with it. My first gun purchase and my choice went contrary to the suggestions of just about everyone I know that is a Ruger fan. Not their beloved western-style revolver. Found out later that I had bought one of the best revolvers made. Just dumb luck? I don't care. I have not found a single thing about this gun that I do not like, aside from the front sight which I recently replaced with a HiViz.

At my local gun shop in Orange county, CA, GP100s are around $590 and SP101s around $490. That shop has great gun prices compared to other local shops too.

Thanks, I thought that was too high. I met another guy at the range and he is more reasonable, $30 - $40.
