Old style factory grips available on Midway:

Darn things are hard to find but I have one now. Maybe I should buy extras as an investment...

I like this grip because the Hogue Tamer on my GP100 appears to have been designed for a race of giants.

I dont like the "scalloping" the Altamont grip has. I prefer the original smooth style.

When I got my 3" GP100 last year, I made immediate plans to replace the Hogues.
My first range trip was made before I replaced the the Hogue grip, and I found that for actual shooting, I liked the Hogue just fine...it worked very well for me.
Still, it was just too big for the 3" GP.
Midway was out of stock on the Lett's, so while I waited, I got a great deal on a Ruger compact Lett on eBay.
Added some wood inserts from Chigs grips, and now I'm happy. The compact Lett's shoot great, and fit the size of my 3" perfectly.
I'm tempted by the Thai made wood grips for the GP, but I like the compact Lett's so much, I hesitate to spend the money.
The Hogue is a good shooting grip, but Ruger could really do better by the GP shooter. Even if Ruger supplied the Hogue, and offered different options for purchase, it would be better than what they are doing now.
