Are there two configurations of grips for the GP100? Mine has a large screw at the bottom of the grip and the grips I ordered from Altamont don't have a bottom screw hole, just side panel holes......

Did Ruger recently change the way their grips attach to the GP100?

You have the Hogue grips with the bottom screw. Remove the screw and pull the grip off. There is a stirrup an the bottom of the grip frame that you will need to remove (Very Simple).

Once that is done, install the Altamonts using the side screw.

Thanks guys....I wasn't sure if that was the correct way to install them or not.....This helps a lot.

There is a large grip locator pin that goes thru the large hole in the grip, and the frame. You can get this piece from Ruger or Midway or Brownells. You CANT just use the screw.

Glad to hear that you got some Altamont grips.

Those Hogues they come with are about the ugliest things I've ever seen (and that's saying a lot because I own a Hi-Point!)

I have two GPs and one has the old, Lett-style compact GP grips with some nice custom inserts. My other GP wears some Uncle Mike's combat grips.

Liking those Uncle Mikes.
Looking for something to replace my ugly Hogues, but the standard Ruger grips just don't feel as good or shoot as well.

Just in case anyone is wondering what the Altamont grips look like on the GP100, without the grip locator pin of course. Thanks for the link, that did answer my questions on this thing......

Ruger Super Redhawk

I have just about paid off my hubby's {birthday present} SRH 9.5" $230.00 left . I am going to get me a set of the orginial grips the ones with the wooden inlays & rubber on the outer midway usa has them but thier out of them for now iam sure they will be back in stock by the time i get the finial payment made

I'm thinking about replacing my original grips/panels with Altamonts. I like the pattern on the rubber, and I like the inserts.
I've thought about making my own inserts from micarta and maybe mahogany.

The snakeskin combo really turns my crank. (As in, gets my motor running/floats my boat. Get yer minds outta da gutter :))
