Geez, you guys are killing me here. I never come across 3 1/2" 27s, or Pythons that just need a little TLC. Last Python I saw in a shop appeared to be a reblue, $2300.00+ IIRC. And I never see a 27, other than some version of a current 627, or whatever they are called now, in a shop.
Funny, years ago when 27s were in production, the 8 3/8" seemed to be the desirable, therefore unbtanium one. Now the 3 1/2" guns are the desirable ones. And here I am, stuck in the middle again, with a 5" version
I went with a pair of stags from Grashorn Grips. That guy does an amazing job at a reasonable price! The grips go with the gun like peanut butter and chocolate. The crappy pic doesn't do the pairing justice at all.
If the rebluing isn't to your liking and you would rather the original rich blue of S&W just send it back to S&W and have them reblue it. They do amazing work and you can't tell it's not original because it's from the factory. https://www.smith-wesson.com/customer-service/precision-gunsmithing
I think it's a very nice revolver just the way it is, good find.
Gladius,
You should have to bear the burden of the temptation of living only 20 miles from Patrick. My S&Ws reveal I'm not very good at resisting temptation.
Nothing is better than finding something you have wanted for a while, and also being able to get it when you find it...congrats!
I am usually in the "one or the other" position... Either I have cash in hand but have no luck finding it (and I inevitably buy something else), or not enough ducats are in my hand when I do find it and it goes home with someone else!!
