A giant attaboy to Smith & Wesson for their truly great customer service.
I've a 986 that wasn't carrying up on two or three chambers. Contacted Smith service, no hassle, sent me a shipping authorization.
Dropped it off at FedEx on 30 October; it arrived home today, 17 Nov. They replaced the ratchet, and fixed the hand.
To my surprise, the reduced power rebound spring remained. Trigger pull, double and single, remains excellent, and all chambers carry up.

Hey, chit happens. It wasn't shaving or giving indications of being out of time; I just happened to check it. Adding chambers does seem to complicate revolver operation.
