Great product idea for aging eyes.

It's nice to see these offered at a reasonable price.

I've used top focal glasses for NRA action pistol shooting last year. They were made by Decot with a .75 diopter in the top of my dominant eye. My distance vision is perfect but I wear +1.50 readers.

Here are some of my observations.

These lenses do not work well for moving and shooting such as IPSC. The transition from looking through the focal portion of the lens to the rest of the lens is disorienting. I would get seasick if I tried to run and shoot with them.

For me, I could not imagine using more than 1.00 power. Higher magnification than that makes targets very very fuzzy. +.75 with my vision gives me a crystal clear front sight with targets from 10-50 yards being slightly blurry but still allows fine aiming.

Long story short. For normal 50 year old eyes and static shooting postions, I recommend the 1.00 lenses.

These seem to focus (get it.. ;)) on pistol shooting. I would be curious to know how they work with iron sights on rifles.

From my experience with progressive bifocals and Walmart readers you can get the right correction for either pistol or rifle sights. It just takes a different magnification for each. My current progressives do pretty good for pistols but are not so hot for rifles. The ones before these were just the opposite. I keep two different pairs of readers and switch for rifle or pistol. These are affordable enough to get two pair and I am going to do so. I think they will be much better than the readers.

Interesting...I can't see my hand in front of my face without my glasses....and in shooting I have a choice target, front site or rear site.....anymore I shoot with glass on the gun....the joys of getting old...but I do still want good irons on the rifle.

Thanks for the input. I have been using the wallyworld reader/cheater trick too and keep an assortment of magnifications. What I am curious about is if that upper window is in a good spot for lining up with the rifle's sights when it is shouldered?

Been wearing these for 20 years. Trifocal at the top: left side for pistol, right side for rifle iron sights. Bifocal on the bottom for reading, middle for everything in between.
those glasses would give me an immense headache lol it would seem to me I would be drunk and seeing doubles and triples

I can see the front sight on pistols or full size rifles better than ARs. I've been using Decot bivocals, not cheap and I think I'm about due for a new prescription. :( .

Thanks for the stick on bifocal link. Those of us confined to our 20/400 progressives can't just pop on another pair over them, and a corrective lens we can add and take off is needed. Looking up at work to read part numbers on shelving at ten feet printed in 8 point isn't easy.

IIRC I remember finding these at Walgreens years ago and just didn't think I needed them. Boy I was wrong, the day came when I couldn't wear contacts anymore and I could have been using them for a long time now. Just forgot they existed.

Edited to add: Checked my local drug store, no longer in stock. Oh well.

Interesting but I've found my solution for old eyes and iron sighted pistols. I've tried various types of eye glass correction over the years with various results. My current pair of progressive bifocals is doing pretty well but I've found red dot sights out do anything else.

with the vision problems a lot of guys have here I would not like to be around them while they are driving and shooting lol

Ever tried these? I clip them on my bifocals and use them for computer work and shooting. They flip up out of the way when you need standard correction for a moment.

I wear progressive bifocals, but interestingly I see my front sight better when looking through the distance part of my glasses. Maybe this will change as I get older. :(
