I've been playing around with some woodcarving/engraving/woodburning lately and thought it'd be fun to do some custom grips for my new cowboy action shooting guns.

I'm trying to find some "blank" (flat, undecorated wood) grips for Ruger New Model Blackhawks but so far what I've found that might work is $50-$100. Just a -little- more expensive than I want for experimental woodcarving!

What I've found so far

(too pricy for this project)

(not flat, but cheap enough that maybe it'd be worth it to sand 'em smooth and go from there)

So can anybody help me out here or do I have to try and make some from scratch?

You might want to ask in the gunsmithing forum. I posted a similar question when I first started and got quite a few responses.
