Title says it all. Springfield Loaded Operator. Looking to get rid of the ILS.

Bought a S&A MSH and a Brownells MSH refill kit. After installing the S&A MSH, the grip safety will not work properly. When the hammer is pulled back, the trigger can still be engaged without the grip safety being held down. I swapped back to all original parts, grip safety works fine.

I compared to the two MSH and see the S&A is taller overall, and the 'flat' top looks to be a bit higher than the factory MSH. Could this be why? Does the grip safety 'think' it's always engaged? Do I need to do some filing somewhere to free up a little room to allow the grip safety to engage more?

New to 1911 'smithing...obviously. I've done a little research....some say to box it all up and send it to Springfield and they will install for a few bucks but I honestly don't think I need to do that. This seems pretty straight forward.

Thoughts? Opinions? Thanks in advance.

Left is the factory MSH, right is the S&A

The new MSH is keeping the grip safety from moving far enough out to engage. A little file work on the MSH or the tail of the grip safety will allow the needed movement.
Welcome to the world of 1911's. Two important things to remember: There are no drop in parts. And the big one, file on the cheaper part.

Would I file on the flat top of the MSH or the vertical sides (facing you when looking at the picture) of the two notches? Or both?
