WHAT CAN YOU GUYS TELL ME ABOUT THE GSG FIREFLY? IT'S REALY CHEAP, BUT IS IT ANY GOOD? I HAVE A GSG 1911 AND IT'S REALLY A GOOD GUN. HAD TO HAVE IT SMOOTHED OUT SOME AND BURNED UP SOME AMMO, BUT NOW IT RUNS SMOOTHLY. IT'S NOW MY WIFE'S FAVORITE. EVEN THOUGH SHE SHOOTS 2 OTHER MORE EXPENSIVE PISTOLS. I'LL LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR THOUGHTS,.

It is the Sig Mosquito, the only "Sig" gun that Sig won't warranty. Father had one, couldn't get through a single magazine without jamming. Field strip, clean, reassemble. Would shoot fine, but go back to jamming before the magazine was empty. Did I mention that he HAD one?

I also had the GSG 1911 .22. Flawless, I sometimes still miss it, but then I pull out the AR that the sale facilitated, and all is well...

P.S. Why are you yelling at me? ;)

Cap locks...

Plus, if its really cheap, how long do you figure in keeping it once problems start to occur?

@Sniper66: Most people online use caps lock for emphasis, often during a heated argument. It's the online equivalent of angry yelling. So when you post in all caps, most of us will automatically read it as if you're yelling angrily at us, even if you're not.

But to answer your question, I think the GSG Firefly is a fairly decent .22 plinker for the money. Like @badkarmamib mentioned, it's the same as the old SIG Mosquito. That gun had lots of quality control problems; some people got good ones and others had issues. I've never owned a Mosquito personally, but I've known several people who have; some had constant reliability problems and others had fewer problems and were generally happy with the gun.

The issue was that the Mosquito was expensive, so it wasn't worth the risk of getting a bad one in my opinion. But (again: in my opinion) the GSG version is cheap enough that it's worth the risk if that's the kind of .22 you want and you're on a budget.

Garbage. SIG dropped them, hence the similar name "Firefly" to SIG's "mosquito".

I wouldn't take one if it were free... That's from experience. Couldn't make it through 5 rounds without a failure with any and all ammo.

You would be better off looking for a Ruger mk I or mkII if your wanting a low cost, good quality 22. auto pistol.

As for me, I have one of those surplus Beretta 71s 22. pistols. Very fun to shoot.

When I bought my daughter her first gun I told her she could have any .22 she wanted. She really liked the SIG Mosquito but with all of the problems I had heard about it I was really hoping she wouldn't choose it (that and it was kind of pricey at the time). Thankfully she went with a Beretta Neos and it's been great for a beginner's first pistol.

I would certainly take on the for free. I looked into it before buying my buckmarks , but all the stuff mentioned above pushed it off the list . It does look nice and if just a plinker I wouldn't mind having one.

Just when you think a horrible idea has been buried, someone has to dig it up and put it in new clothes.

Not only would the factory to warranty it, the foremost SIG gunsmith in the country won't work on them...sort of tells you something

You mean like the P238 LOL. The mosquitos are garbage with any rollmark. IIRC Sig never made them. GSG made them from day one.
