Gun Carry At Work On May 1st

I actually have 2 questions.

(1) I work in a gasoline terminal , now at my work there are signs about carrying firearms on the property and that it is not allowed. And I am subject to search. Be that as it may my terminal is a 24 hour terminal and I often work the night shift from evening to morning. I dont think it is legal for my truck/car to be searched because it is my property but I know I can be searched, thing about it is I have to wear coveralls to work fire retardent and I will be working monday the 1st at night. Now I do have my ccl should I carry anyhow for my own protection seeing how at night there is not as many people here. If there are any police officers I would like your opinion too.

(2)My wife is not 21 yet but will have to be working monday should I have her carry a little somthin or other in her vehicle with her just incase and i thought I read in the Washington gun law book that it is legal for 18 and up to be in possesion if a handgun as long as it is in his/her possesion in his/her property, Please correct me if i am wrong about this. But none the less should she have protection with her.:banghead:

You can only be searched with your consent. The sole exception which comes to mind is police in possession of a warrant or in the process of arresting you, and possibly by the MPs if you work on a military installation.

You're free to tell anyone who wants to search you to get bent. Of course, at work, they're free to tell you to pack up your crap and get out, too.

Whoops. Mods, looks like this thread is in two places: general and strategies/tactics. Probably belongs here in general.
On a side note, I thought it was odd that THR "ate" a post... guess it didn't!

There's legal and then there's company policy.

You can probably legaly refuse to be searched, but chances are you'll be unemployed if you do.

However it sounds like you wear enough clothes that the only way they'd find your piece is if they strip search you.

Glimpse,
Where are you located? I drive a gas tanker and fill up at the Greensboro "tank farms". Yes some have signs, but driving a large commercial vehicle w/ hazmat/tanker endorsements, I can't legally have a firearm in my truck with me. I've been concerned for my own safety due to tankers carrying 9000 gals and gas approaching $3 a gal-you do the math. We do here in NC have a growing gang base and have identified large numbers of Crips and Bloods here in our local (My daughter and son's high and middle) schools. If they had any Idea how to drive a rig, we in the industry could be in trouble. You know, no witness' type of thing. In my truck I kinda feel like an educated "sheeple" I know WHAT to do, but the law won't let me. It's kinda like living in a "Democrat run state". (I used to live in Md, I know what I'm talking about). Tracy

Actually, I've heard of fuel trucks being hijacked/stolen. In some states, there are rackets where the gangs steal the trucks and sell the fuel at pennies on the dollar to "independent" stations, then dump the truck. Someone willing to do this wouldn't be above using force.
