Good day , I need to build a Gun cart for the range. I have seen mention of the Harbor Freight Welding cart, strollers and such. If you have built one can you provide pictures, what you wish you added or deleted ... Thank you.
Wrestling in my head which way to go.

I think the HF welding cart would be too heavy and the wheels too small to roll over dirt/gravel.

I had a cart made from a golf bag cart; it worked out fine.
The last one I built started out as a baby jogging stroller.
It had spoked 20 inch bicycle wheels/tires (3).

Both of those carts folded down for transport and were bought at 2nd stores, like Savers.
I'll look for pics, but don't have either cart now.

Cowboy shooters are into custom/diy carts, as their matches are typically 3 or 4 guns, you can look on Cowboy forums for ideas.
jmo,

I did a baby jogger off CL and ATV mounts for my 3 gun cart.

They are designed to be folded up to put in the trunk and have room for all the stuff I needed. Wheels lock/brakes, if its not on level ground or its very windy, they roll easy and are light weight.

This one isn't mine but pretty much the same thing.

Rifles go in cases, my range gear goes in the cooler while traveling then transfers to the big foot wagon for gravel or rough terrain.

For just toting stuff from the car to the firing line I've used those folding wagins you can get at Costco or other places

I see these a lot at the Grandson's baseball games and at the beach, when we go. It should work well for range use. Maybe plan to use a good quality case for the rifle.
My wife got one and I started using it. It is now referred to as "dads gun wagon". I've made no mods, its not perfect. I already had it so

Depends on what you want to carry to the line? Targets, Metal Targets, staple gun, etc or something more?

Wondering about what kind of range you're shooting at and what kind of things you wanting to transport.

Certainly the solution for moving a couple shotguns and 200 shells through a sporting clays course will be different than getting from the car to the line for action pistol/revolver shooting..

I use one of the green metal lawn carts with the drop down sides from Home Depot or Lowe’s. Holds lots of stuff and you can mod them to your needs. Wheels roll very well over rough stuff and are cheaply replaced from Harbor Freight if needed.

I have one of those, it works fine for what I use it for. I also have a golf bag cart, just need to attach a couple sets of Kolpin clamps to it.

The Academy folding carts or similar are very popular here and in TX. Easy to fold up and put in the car. Not expensive. I've seen folks with very expensive carts. Never saw the need. Now, I got mine in camo for a gun stylish look.

I pretty much spent the weekend at the ballpark with the Grandsons and I paid more attention to these wagons. You can get them with large wheels/tires and all kinds of configurations. Lots of accessory pouches, drink holders, ect. I even saw one with sideboards where one side folds down and makes a bench seat.

The cowboy action and CMP competition people make amazing rigs. Any competitors that frequent large parking lots have an assortment to look at.

At the last match, a guy had one of those two wheel fancy rigs - fitted for his guns, etc. Then he had asked somebody else to bring a few boxes of bullets for him. Heavy. So he asked me if he could put them in my 4 wheel Academy cart for the walk back to the parking lot. I didn't charge him.

I’ll admit, I really hate gun carts at most matches. CAS/SASS shooters have had the right idea for a long time - carts stable enough to have their rifles pointing upward, instead of rolling around flagging everyone along the way. I’ve seen too many baby strollers and wagons rolling around with the buttstock down and muzzles pointing out at ~30degrees from the ground, flagging everyone they pass… of course, there ARE dolly-type gun carts which leave the driver flagging themselves during transport too… my CAS/SASS cart was enclosed, made from reclaimed barn wood, and stored the long guns vertically - which did point the muzzles in my direction when driving, which is why I had an AR-500 cut-off strip laid under the top cap.

I don’t really care to get shot in the calf by a rifle on a jogging stroller, or shot in the gut by a rifle laid in a kiddie wagon - I’m a pragmatist about flagging, and to me, carts are a MASSIVE source of muzzle flagging complacency in the shooting sports community.

I use a modified golf cart mostly, recently I needed to carry a cooler also so I used one of the foldup wagons with narrow wheels and I think the wider wheels would make it a little easier to pull.

I'm 67 and still carrying all my stuff at PRS, NRL/PRS-22 matches, but the day is coming...... Good point about how the rifles are attached to the carts.

We keep our rifles in soft cases in the four wheel collapsible carts. Our local rules are that you bring the case up to the line and get the rifle out. Some folks do have golf car like carts with holders for the rifle. They said they cost a good buck. The collapsible carts are cheap. I also use to take things around the garden. Plenty of room for a folding stool and a cooler - need that for hydration, rain jacket, etc. Also, the gun bag with ammo, mags, equipment, first aid.

When you carry a rifle in a rifle case, do you carry it so it's pointed up or just carry it by the handle.....?

The jogging strollers made for twins can be modified to be the best there is.
Other than that you all look just like softball moms.
