Gun Carts or carrying all that stuff to the outdoor range...

I find that for indoor shooting with handguns, I can fit everything into my range bag, so no problems.


If I want to shoot rifles, or shoot out doors, the effort getting everything set up without getting wet (hey, its Seattle..) muddy, or separated from my sight while I make a half dozen trips to the SUV is a pain.

The "shooting stuff" is suddenly a lot more, between rifle cases, ammo, more ammo, range bag, tarps, targets, target stands etc etc....

So, I'm thinking about a gun cart. I know they are common for SASS meets.

Anyone else have or use these? Any ideas?

Luckily the rifle ranges I frequent have parking close enough to allow me to get away with just carrying all the junk; if not I'd seriously look into a 'lil red wagon.

And then of course paint it OD, camo or even tactical black.

I had thought about this myself a couple of months ago and am still doing so. I had researched the 'net to see if there was anything out there for just such a situation and there were a few things. They were, however, geared more towards shotgun sports, i.e., trap/skeet/clays. But it did give me a good starting point into designing one for myself which would carry rifles, bags (which would contain handguns, accessories, etc.), ammo, and my range toolbox. The only problem with a cart or carrier is that it would be just one more thing that needs to be jammed into my car's already crowded trunk.

I would start off with a collapsible golf cart or hand truck and build up from there to include a frame (if needed) and extensions to hold the rifles and shotguns (more than just two) and straps/cords.

I bought a used hand truck, and bolted a milk crate to it. works fine for me.

I did a search on the same cart.
I went to a match shoot and just about everyone toted around the same collapsible cart.
Well being to proud to ask some one I missed my chance to gain some info on this cart.
Well I searched a few farm tractor shops.
I found several John Deere green wagons and wood panel wagons.ranging from $60 to $150.
I then went to the local Tractor supply store.
I bought a Black Cat drop side wagon.
It is 48" long (big enough for a gun case)
Is 24" wide (wide enough for a tote to store gear in)
The heavy duty field wheels that will give on rough terrain.
Check some lawn and garden stores for your various options.
All for $80.
The range I frequent also is parking lot friendly.So I only carry what I plan to shoot right then.Then go back to the truck and select another weapon,pistol riffle.
When I go to match shoots the wagon carries the load.

At the range I belong to, a few members simply have a small wagon that they keep either outside or in the clubhouse. Easily accomodates neccessary range needs and are affordable.

Stop by Home Depot and buy one of those green garden wagons with the drop-down sides and pneumatic wheels and tires.

Oh yea did I mention the pickup truck!

Yes it wont fit into a trunk,but the truck has a lid on the bed and the dropsides works real well.

you could get a genuine HK tactical wheelbarrow.

There is a guy who attends the monthly plate shoot at a range I'm a member of that actually does bring one of those two wheel plastic wheelbarrows. Actually holds quite a bit of stuff and is relatively easy to move around. A bit bulky and takes up some space but is very stable and works very well. Unfortunately, you need a truck to haul that thing (and the rest of your stuff) around.
