Gun control in India.

Abhijeet, I am an American of Indian descent in the US. I am 16 and have read your article maybe two years ago.

I make frequent trips to India. My cousin's uncle has a shotgun and a .44 Mag revolver which he carries.

Gun control in India has always made me chuckle as it's socially acceptable to own guns and it's very easy to buy illegal AK47s and bribe police.

Justin,

Just posted the article at - http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=275985

Crunker1337 - I'll put the last sentence of your post down to naivete... there being a serious difference between the people who are typically going to illegally procure AK's from the black market AND a grandmother wishing to buy a small frame revolver to carry in her purse - for self defence. The former don't care for the law, the latter does and if the law does not permit her - will have to go unarmed...

Allow me to stress here that while I do not agree with the logic of our gun laws, THEY ARE THE LAW HERE - and so long as they are the law, the vast majority of will abide by them (me included). Try and change them - YES! Break the law - NO!

Anyhow, on Justin's suggestion I've started a new thread on this, lets carry on with this discussion there...

Cheers!
Abhijeet
