Well, if you do get the offer, you're welcome in Huntsvegas.

I shoot mostly at the Swan Creek WMA public range, which is between Athens and Decatur along Hwy 31. It is closed during duck season, but for 10 months out of the year, you get to shoot for only the cost of a state hunting license.

It seems to me that the sheriff (Madison County) doesn't want to grant CCW permits to anyone who has lived here for less than six months. I had been here six years when I applied for mine, and it still took three months to get it. All you will need is three character witnesses to list, $10, and a picture of yourself for their file (you do NOT need a passport type picture, as it isn't a picture that they actually put on your permit).

It is a good place to live, and as has been stated above, Larry's Pistol and Pawn is like Disney World for gunnies.

Redactor makes a good point about the requirements for establishing a residence for a certain time period. However, if your Georgia CCW permit doesn't expire for awhile (and while I am no attorney), I would think that the reciprocity agreement between AL and GA would allow you to carry while establishing your residency.

I can't remember if it is explicitly listed as a requirement on the application form or not, but I do remember that it asks how long you have lived in the County. I have an extra application at home, so I'll take a look tonight and see.
