According to this article, the UK is offering Iraqis an "amnesty" to turn in their guns.

To paraphrase the a UK military official...

Iraq is a gun culture, and most guns are held LEGALLY...taking these guns out of circulation is the key to Iraq's future.

 :what: :scrutiny:

In my humble opinion, if we are to "give" the Iraqi people real freedom, it should include the freedom we are given in the 2nd Amendment -- "the right to keep and bear arms."

 :p :)

What do you think about this "gun grab" and should the Iraqi people have the freedom to "keep and bear arms" like we do in the USA?

The redcoats havn't learned a thing in 200+ yrs.

The brits just don't get the concept of liberty. That's why we gave them the boot in 1776. Some US forces are letting the people keep their "liberty teeth". The big question is whether the Iraqi people want a democratic republic or feudal warlords? Either way they have the same inalienable rights as anyone else.

Just like anywhere, the only ones that would give up their guns are the ones that were no threat in the first place.
I doubt you'll see any hard core fedayeen falling all over themselves to disarm!
