Instead we have a mass stabbing. There is no discussion about the type of knife used or wether he had a lic or whether or not he had gotten the knife through a knife show loop hole.

TOKYO : A Japanese fugitive wanted for murder on Sunday killed one man and injured seven other people in a knifing spree at a shopping mall in a Tokyo suburb, police and media reports said.

Masahiro Kanagawa, 24, was captured by police near the scene in Tsuchiura, Ibaraki prefecture, shortly after the attack, said a spokesman for the prefectural police.

A 27-year-old man died of his injuries in hospital, the spokesman said.

Kanagawa, who is suspected of murdering a 72-year-old Tsuchiura resident on Wednesday, has been on the police's most wanted list. - AFP/ch

And when you outlaw knies, you will get mass bludgeonings.

When will these idiot realize that anything can be used as a weapon, and to outlaw the most effective self defense available is asinine!?!?!?

An update on the story indicates that he had two knives in his possession as he went on the slashing spree, walking along a hallway that connected a train station to a mall.

They won't, they will just outlaw knives and fire extinguishers like our British friends.

Did they really outlaw fire extinguishers in conjunction with crime?

They outlawed fire extinguishers under the argument that they encourage people to stay and fight the fire rather than just concentrating on escaping.

It's the "they will take your gun away and use it on you" argument just reworded.

Let the "professionals in the government" take care of everything for you.

Unreal......

wait, who outlawed fire extinguishers? The brits or the japanese?

can you point me to more info on this?

But there was only one death, unlike semi-automatic assault weapons of war - with shoulder thingies that go up! - which verily spew death and destruction like a fire hose.

(Yes, that is absurd, but it is the argument an "anti" will use.)

The Brits, but it's the same mentality. The GOV will protect you, that's all you need to worry about.

Japan already has extremely tough gun laws, and we see what good it did in this case. Knives will be next, just as in Britain.
Then fire extinguishers.

Fire extinguishers could be removed from communal areas in flats throughout the country because they are a safety hazard, it has emerged.

The life-saving devices encourage untrained people to fight a fire rather than leave the building, risk assessors in Bournemouth decided.

Replace guns with fire extinguisher and you get the same general ideal; that people should be discouraged from fighting back in any manner whether the attacker is a nutcase with a sword or a fire.

Their argument is that there was only one fatality instead of several, like happens in "gun crazy" America. They'll then ask how many fatalities the last mall shooting produced.

Therefore, the restrictions are working according to their logic.

Correct me if I am wrong (Japanese THR'rs, if there are any, I could use help on this) but arent only shotguns legal in Japan? Not even the wartime Arisaka is legal I believe.
