Gun lube

slip2000 EWL is the best lube you can buy. i've been using it more than a decade.

(which is not to say friggin motor oil or any random other oil won't also work. but it does an excellent job of staying where you put it and lasting a long time, and it's not horrible for rust protection. slip2k has outlasted some of the other trendy lubes like froglube which everyone hates now)

I had been real happy with Frog Lube until it froze up on me. Heard great things about Slip. Thanks

It works well for exterior surfaces as a rust preventative. I prefer lithium grease for moving parts, available at auto zone.

Its good. I like the ALG stuff as well. Never had a problem with G96 CLP either, its way better in cold weather than the breakfree brand

Good stuff. Amazon usually has a three part kit of Slip Oil, Cleaner, etc. for pretty cheap compared with other sets. Just be careful about cleaning and removing previous lubricants before using a new lubricant. Some of the additives may not play well with each other and cause problems.

Use it on my AR and have been super happy with it. Also non-toxic vs. petrolium based lubricants. If you want to see it used in some truly extreme firing conditions, Google "Filthy 14".

Anyone ever tried Slip2000...?

Nope.

I'm still working my way through the last of the Sears Roebuck & Co. Household Oil (their packaging of 3in1) that I purchased in 1979 and (with the exception of lithium grease on some inaccessible areas of barrels under difficult to remove handguards) is all I have used to maintain my guns. And with a rust-free track record of 39 years, I see no reason to try anything else.

Bought a can of Lubriplate.

Lube everything with it.

I suspect I'll still have 3/4 of a can to pass down to my progeny for several generations

Have used Slip 2000; also like products from Shooter's Choice, Cleanzoil, Safari Charlie's, and Hoppe's. RIG grease is another good product where something heavier is needed.

Got a free trial bottle from my LGS last year. I like it a lot. I've tried it on my guns, and have used it on the hinge pin of my pocket knives. I bought a can of the G96 on a recommendation and really can't see much difference as both work great for me.

It's just a matter of thickness. S2000 is regular gun oil, EWL is slightly thicker and EWL30 is the most viscous.

NatureBoy, also have bought and used Lubriplate and like it equally to S2000.

Both these work in cold temps (4' here in WI right now) and hot (90') temps at the outdoor range where I shoot.

STOS by ponsness warren. 100% synthetic, stays where applied, NO petroleum component, and is VERY slippery.

I found an old sears gun cleaning kit in my dad's shop years after he passed. I've been using it for the last couple years. Maybe I'm just fond of it because it was my dad's, but the gun oil is better than any of the modern stuff I have.
