Looking to order some slip2000 stuff for my new M&P15. Would I need the 725 cleaner/degreaser or the carbon killer for cleaning my rifle bore, bolt etc?

Also how much gun lube would I need? 1oz, 4oz, 16oz?

Any advantage to using the extreme weapon lube on my semi-auto ?

I really like the Slip 2000 oil, Carbon Killer, and 725 cleaner/degreaser, but use regular bore solvents for barrels. I have never tried the cleaner or CK on a bore. I have both, so maybe I should try it.

Hard to beat Shooters Choice or Butches Bore Shine for plain old bore cleaning.

I use Wipeout foaming bore cleaner for the bore. Easy to use and very effective. Slip 2000 is already fairly effective at removing powder residue and carbon. Just using Slip 2000 EWL and nothing else you can maintain the rifle pretty well.

In my experience the 725 degreaser is enough to get the job done if you need to clean and strip all the lubricant/protectant for some reason. Carbon killer is even stronger. Both are water based so you need to reapply Slip 2000 lube after using them.

To give some examples of my own use:

1. Cleaning after a trip to the range and 250-300 rounds. Slip 2000 only to clean and reapply.
2. Cleaning after 1,000 rounds or more since last cleaning with some suppressor use. 725 to clean the bolt quick. Wipeout for the bore. Reapply Slip 2000 after cleaning.
3. Get a rifle that has been run dry where carbon is baked on the carrier and bolt heavily. Soak bolt, firing pin, etc. in carbon killer. Wipeout for the bore. Reapply Slip 2000 after cleaning.

Yes, it strips the metal clean, clean, clean. Relubing is a must. I only like to use the 725 on guns I have broken down completely so I can get lube back on every single little surface.

Like Bart posted, if you want to use one product for everything, get the oil, and use a bore cleaner occasionally if really needed. It's not a target gun anyway.

Dd, if you get up to Columbia, Palmetto State Armory usually stocks the Slip line. Might want to check the big gun store in Goose Creek (ATP?), they may stock Slip as well.

For detailed annual cleanings, I use non-chlorinated brake cleaner from Wal-Mart for cleaning, WipeOut for the bore and EWL for lube.

Carbon Killer is great for revolver cylinders (carbon removal) and 725 works for quick cleaning, IMHO.
