Gun Magazine Subscriptions?

American Rifleman from my life NRA membership, American Handgunner and Guns magazine. The latter two are sister publications and share many of the same writers but I like them (especially John Connor). Also, they cover historical weapons as well as the latest.

Pretty much the only time I pick up gun rags is when I'm going on a trip and won't have reliable access to the internet, or won't have a computer.
Same here. I'm drawn to the glossy pictures of guns I'll never be able to afford on the cover :p
It seems like most of the magazines review the same group of guns every issue so one rifle mag and one handgun mag can probably cover everything.
There always has to be the latest-greatest $2000 variation of the 1911 (or sometimes 3 of them), and some overpriced piston AR-15 that promises to revolutionize the shooting world according to the authors. Bonus points if it's in 6.8spc or some other cartridge that's hard to find.
I keep wanting to subscribe to Small Arms Review, but $35/yr is a lot of money to spend for pictures & reviews of guns I can't own but can find online. I think that's the authoritative voice on new machine guns though.

Of course I get the Rifleman and I like American Handgunner, G & A, Handloader and Shooting Times. A friend has offered to pay for Precision Shooting, but, I declined as I am mainly a pistolero (old bullseye shooter). I used to get Shotgun News but I no longer have that many Mullet to wrap.

I don't do any of them. I used to buy a few while browsing the newsstand back in the day. Eventually I started thinking "You know, this is the same basic info I'm getting on the internet for free. I think I'll spend the money on ammo and targets instead . . .".

I get a most of my info and "gun talk fix" from discussion forums like this.

american rifleman, outdoor life, north american hunter (north american hunting club), & feild & stream. then i pick up several others, depending on what they have that interests me.

When I was a youth, there wasn't much available in the way of periodicals to sate the interests of gun enthusiasts. Much of my reading was limited to Jack O'Connor's articles in Outdoor Life magazine and the Gun Digest. Today, we are spoiled and jaded by a glut of gun magazines, books and, of course, the internet. I, for one, am not that cynical regarding the content of gun magazines by firearm writers nor the input from members of gun forums on the net. Over time, I have learned which gun writers and which forum posters merit my respect and to dismiss without prejudice those I have come to question, doubt or downright disbelieve.
I like to read most gun rags and like participating in the firearm forums but seldom take too many things too seriously. To answer the op's question, among the many gun magazines I read monthly, my favorites are The American Rifleman, Rifle, Handloader, Guns, The Shooting Sportsman and The American Handgunner. I'm also a long-time subscriber of Gun Tests and, when the rates are low, I also subscribe to Shooting Times and Guns & Ammo.
Right now, I'm way behind on my reading...
