Gun nightmares

Mine is the one where either I can't find the key to my gun locker, or if I do, there is no ammunition to match the guns in there.
I think this may be the same kind of dream about not remembering your high school locker combination, or where to go to your first class on the first day of school.....or..the ever fun one.......sitting in class only to all of a sudden realize that you're in your underwear!!

My gun nightmare came true. I found myself in a tight spot (8lbs 9ozs) a few years back and had to sell my original 1898 Krag carbine!

I've noticed two recurring themes:

1. The dreamer can pull the trigger but either nothing happens or the bullet comes out and is ineffective.

2. The dreamer can't pull the trigger.

Gotta wonder what the difference is.

I'll take a shot y'all jump in too:

Situation:
1. (Ineffective bullet) The person with this type of dream has no problem with taking appropriate action when required but is concerned with the moral or legal consequences of the aftermath. These folks may believe that killing is situationally acceptable but may have trouble dealing emotionallywith the actual act.

2. (Can't even pull the trigger) Subconsciously the person may be struggling with the moral implications of killing and is concerned that they will not be able to take appropriate action when necessary. These people subconsciously may not believe that killing is ever acceptable regardless of the situation. There is a constant battle in this person between the subconscious that thinks in the abstract and the conscious mind that is more practical.

Did shoot a guy with a rifle once (SMLE? think it was a bolt gun) in a dream. Did he go down? I dunno. I was worried my hearing was gone, since I didn't hear the sound of the shot. The thought that he might still be a threat was null and void. Apparently, I have one-shot-stops in my dreams.

i thought i only had them . mine involves being falsely accused of shooting the BG and goin to prison.im not the prison type!

had it, got rid of it.

Had the unpullable trigger when I was brand new.

After I put a few thousand rounds through my carry gun, it disappeared and has not returned. My dream was because I knew subconsciously I was not yet trained enough. I now consciously know I can never be trained enough, but the training I have is adequate. (Training consisting of many thousand rounds through my carry piece. Practice builds confidence.)

I have a variation of the ineffective bullet dream. I'm shooting and shooting, running low on ammo. I'm sorting through this pile of cartridges trying to find the ones that fit my weapon. All the while the things that are chasing me just...won't...die!!!!!! Or they go down and get back up. It's not just a zombie, but some advance form of undead. In one dream I've slit it's throat and thrown it off the side of the ship. It comes back after me!
Analysis?

i've had 'em too. Mine aren't scary (I really don't remember any emotion in my dreams unless I'm VERY upset about something) but in mine I'm shooting a full-sized beretta or somesuch..

and I can't hit )*(&#$. I'm shooting and shooting, and somewhere near the end of the dream I will be lining my sights up very, very carefully... and the mental effort usually wakes me up!

My hand-to-hand dreams never go like that, I guess maybe I'm more suited to 'manual labor' :p

I dream about guns but they aint nightmares

Well there was the one naked and being chased by a crocodile one but that involved a different gun

My nightmares usually are of me falling, being run over by a boat (???), being wrongly executed or getting mangled in some sort of industrial machine.

The few times that there is a BG involved he just won't die. I can wound him and slow him down but I just cannot seem to finish him off. He will literally be crawling on the ground going for my kids and I am shooting, clubbing, slashing him and it just is not enough.

i've only had one that i can remeber. Couldn't get enough lead, i kept shooting in front of the bad guy, started leading by like 4 feet and still hitting 2 feet behind him.

There's one i had simillar to the 100 lb trigger or the falling bullet. I wanted to punch my old man for what he was putting us through at the time. he finally got rid of the incredibly pshycotic abusive woman in his life (why i wanted to nail him) and the dreams stopped (1 yr ago) BTW-i'm 21, married and haven't lived @ home for 2 yrs. but it was always going on whene i stopped by, and my younger bro still lives at home. Really wild cause in my case i knew EXACTLY what was causing the dream and what would make it go away.

may have had one where i loaded a bullet backward in a rifle and couldn't get the bolt to close. that one may be real though :banghead:

I've had a nightmare that I am being confronted by my wife ( with a detailed list ) showing me the eaxact cost of my hobby. Friends, this is earth shaking. Essex

The worst nightmare I've ever had...

In the dream, I died, and my wife sold all of my guns for the prices that I told her I paid for them.:what:

Iv'e had a few gun nightmares, but one occured after I had alot to drink and after I spent several hours playing Resident Evil 1-at a friends house-from the late evening, into the early hours of the next morning.

I went to sleep and then I found that,I somehow got teleported,into Resident Evil 1 and I appeared dressed as Chris Redfield.I had a 9mm Beretta 92F and 60 rounds of ammo in total,divided,between 3 mags,in the vest-pouch and I also had a Bowie knife,in a secure scabbard,on my vest-too.

Anyway,I walked into a door that led me into,a huge walkway, that was situated above the dining room and scientist zombies started to get up from the floor.I shot several zombies dead and knifed a few, then reloaded and went to open the door,on the fast side, when it sprang open and 4 zombies burst through the door and sprang at me,grapping my thighs and biting, into my Hi-Tech Magnum boots.

I fired frantically, blowing part of ones brain out of it's skill, then kicking and shooting the others, eventually killing them all.Unfortuantely for me,I only had one clip of ammo left, inside the beretta, when more ran at me,from the door, I fired and killed some more, until the last round had been fired and I was out of rounds and out of luck.

I saw that the slide had locked back and I fired again, making a clicking sound, whilst searching for ammo, but I had none and so I used the knife, when I was suddenly knocked over,by the zombies and they began, chewing the flesh on my face and neck off, whilst I was screaming in pain-then I woke up to find that my friends dog had been licking my face and had bitten my nose lightly,in order for me to wake up and let him outside, into the garden.

What a weird dream.I won't do that again-for sure.

What I'm wondering, is whether or not this is just a dream, and whether you guys ever have any like this - and also whether or not it is indicative of how I would really react in such a situation.

Sounds like just another manifestation of the standard sleep paralysis nightmare. You know, the one where someone is chasing you and you are unable to run away. Google sleep paralysis and you'll find out why these dreams/nightmares occur.

I was shot in the knee by a corporate competitor in a Shadowrun type universe. There were to of them and they dressed in Gman uniforms (Dark tinted sunglasses, black suit and tie, white shirt). I was on a planet whose surface was covered what was mostly water with rich patches of gasoline floating all over the place. I was there to negotiate extracting it with some sort of jabba the hut type creature when they came in entrance to the room behind me. I was hit in the knee, it sucked.

I was also blown up by a nuclear bomb in one dream. Looked out the window and saw a flash and than the explosion approaching me and suddenly things got hot.

Those nightmares are the exception to the rule. I am generally not afraid of being mugged or murdered (I don't carry). I am afraid of the police (for good reason) and local government (also for good reason) and I can't use a gun to stop them. I can't think of a single time I have wielded a gun in a dream.

I usually just dream about mufflers and wake up exhausted.
There is no way you wrote this joke. Some literary genius of epic proportions must have written it. Shakespeare, maybe.
In any case, this might just be the most clever thing ever written.

Sometimes when I have a SHTF dream, I can pull the trigger but the pull is so hard that it requires both hands to squeeze the darn thing, and by then I couldn't hit anything with it, since all of my energy was going into making it fire. Then it usually breaks and the trigger doesnt return. I think this may be a combination of that sleep paralysis deal that someone mentioned earlier, and the fact that my old "AMERICAN DOUBLE ACTION" .38 S&W revolver's hammer return spring snapped in half while I was re-bluing it (which turned out horribly by the way.) This is one of the reasons I leaned towards Ruger's GP-100 when choosing a .357, since it has a coiled hammer return spring instead of a flat one.

Other than that though, my gun dreams usually involve zombies, hot babes (not zombified ones, rather ones that I know and are very timid around the topic of firearms), and tons of wonderful headshots from a safe balcony from my Mosin 91/30. I'm sure that will change when I get a taste of the AK that comes in the mail on Thursday. I read the Zombie Survival Guide cover to cover, and I'm sure that now I have a complex. I know they're probably not real, but if World War Z ever happened, its good to know a thing or two about them! :p
