In the last few decades the left wing war against gun rights has become relentless. Despite the fact that their assault on gun rights has been costly, in terms of positions in the Presidency, Congress, local governments and tax dollars (on useless anti-gun programs), the left continues to relentlessly attack gun rights and the precious 2nd Amendment. It is clear from this that they will never stop and there is no end in sight, particularly in light of the Ballistics Identification Technology bill recently passed in California.
Whereas anti-gun rights legislation is economically costly and empirically useless at stopping crime, pro-gun rights legislation has made terrific gains in preventing crimes by giving back gun rights to citizens. However, it seems that gun owners are more responsive than proactive in this fight. It’s my impression that MORE needs to be done to compel states like California, New York and Illinois to honor the 2nd Amendment and return the Right to Keep and Bear Arms to their citizens.
My plan, which is in its infancy, is to create a unified organization of gun owners who are willing to legally compel these state and city governments to re-examine their anti-gun legislation by pledging to refuse to spend money in these states or buy products produced in these states. There is strength in numbers and if enough people pledge to refuse to vacation and buy products in these tyrannical states, the economies of these states will suffer. In time, these states may be compelled to honor gun rights as they were intended, issue concealed weapons permits, and allow citizens to own firearms without overly burdensome laws.
I suspect that boycotts against companies based in California, for instance, may cause the companies to lean on the government or even leave the state and further decrease the states' tax base.
Now, this is my fledgling idea. I am in the infancy stages of researching this to see if it has been tried before and if so the result. Also, I need to determine the legality of it at this stage, develop attainable goals for membership and tasks to accomplish.
Gun owners are a wealth of knowledge and skills. Are any THR members willing to assist in any of the following areas:
1. Non-monetary assistance in website design, marketing plans, research skills, those with skills at incorporating entities, accounting (if necessary);
2. Volunteers for assuming leadership roles in such an organization;
3. Monetary aid – if needed (for upkeep of a website, printing and postage of letters to various governments, for instance);
4. Help in the strategy of developing an organization and the best method of creating membership – either free or nominal fee based – and whether a confidential base (for the protection of the members) or a non-confidential base is best;
These are the main areas of need at the moment. I’m sure more need will arise in the future.
