A certain situation happened today that normally would have made me irrate.

But I read somewhere someone saying "I always ask myself, would I draw my ccw in the situation?" If not, then probably not worth blowing up over.

So I've applied similar thinking, and it's helped me to calm down quite a bit. I don't have "Rage" anymore, and while certain situations still make me upset and I vent a bit, it's always afterwards, and I don't escolate the situation.

Just thought I'd share.

Anybody have similar experiences?

I ask myself "What would Jesus Do?" And then I ask "What would Jesus do if he had a 12 Gauge?" :D

Gun ownership? CCW? In Taiwan? :p Nothin' you coulda done cuz all your guns are in Tennesseee :p :p :neener: (I'm gonna keep bugging you till you come home.)

"What would Jesus do if he had a 12 Gauge?"

He'd deck it out with accessories. Duh :p

I've seem similar posts in the past (on TFL) about the affect of CCW on a persons demeanor/tempermant. All part of the responsibility of having a CHL.

Good job twoblink.

There have been MANY times where I have really wanted to beat the living stuffing out of someone, but I have always restrained myself. I keep thinking of the same thing, "If they press charges then I will lose my CCW and lose all my guns."

That has kept me out of a lot of trouble and made me a calmer person.

Not me, I just start packing a folding shovel to bury the bodies:D

NOTE: Above comment purely made in just, as I have not yet received my Concealed SHovel Permit

I'm one of those calmer CCW types. I let all kinds of things slide that used to irritate me, especially while driving. Although I do ponder what the offending idiot's reaction would be if I did draw my handgun on him/her.

This has cropped up in threads before and is I'd say a common way of thinking ..... the correct one also.

I don't rile easy but know that I can only be pushed so far ..... these days and since CCW .... that can go even further - way further ...... the simple reason is that on one's person is the ultimate form of defence .... one too which we do NOT want to use other than ''in extremis''.. it's no toy, and we are answerable.

The knowledge of having this ''ultimate get-out clause!'' ... is a good reason to be able to feel more secure and thus not have to make waves, even if slighted and called all sorts of names ..... most idiots who wind-up others are often drunk and/or spoiling for a fight ... having ''something to prove'' ,....... best to let them blow their smoke and get on with their lives and we, ours.

I'll wager many a brawl has not occurred thru just this phenomenon..... and fewer people get hurt.

Owning a firearm does call you higher. It gives you a depth of forsight that may not be accessable otherwise, without that power. And Im glad I know what your talking about. :)

"What would Jesus do if he had a 12 GA. ?"- twoblink

:D :D :D ROTFL!!! He would probably not have been so quikly betrayed by Judas, not been denied by Peter 3 times (maybe 2 times) and called down his legions of warring angels to finish off the Romans, Jesus being the pointman of course. But then, we would all be damned. ....Im glad he didnt have the 12 GA. :D

Contemplating the legitimate use of immediately available lethal force in your personal circumstances leads to more thoughtful contemplation of all personal actions, IMHO.

Of course, that doesn't mean don't go home and beat the stuffing out of my punching bag! :p

It's tough though. There are those guys that "Just deserve it". Yeah, you all know what I'm talking about. You say to yourself, "Someone 'aut to teach him a lesson."

But at the end of the day, I walk away.

Like I told Oleg, dealing with Infidels all day, has increased my patience quite a bit.

Jim..

Luke 22:36
He said to them, "But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.

CCW has even made me a better driver. I obey the speed limit, and don't run yellow lights. I don't want to have to find out how the officer in question responds to the fact that I'm packing. ;)

Yes I would say that gun ownership made me a calmer person. I was/am the single most level-headed person I know.

Then my car got stolen.

Hoo-boy, that was BAD. I was fighting a holding action against the steady erosion of my self control by seething black rage. I was winning, albeit VERY slowly.

I haven't let that depth of emotion get that much of a grip on me since my school days. People I haven't seen since then express severe worry when they find out I collect guns.

"Colin? Has guns? Uhh...that's NOT good."

I had a severe case of school-shooter mentality for a while back then, before there was such a thing as a "school-shooter". Apparently it is one of the things people remember most about me. I don't do reunions.

I was an outsider who got depressed. Outsiders hatch plots. I didn't NEED guns, you see. Idiotic MMM'ers.

I memorized where all the fire axes were. And I had a list. :what:

Socially isolated kids should perhaps not be left that way. Especially the smart ones. Paybacks can be expensive.

It's not a pleasant story. It's where I learned to hate handcuffs. I may write it up one day. Realistically, it scared me straight. Recognizing one's own potential can be..."enlightening", shall we say.

Didn't want to go back there. Built a lot of heavy-duty mental tools so I wouldn't. Crude ones, but made out of thick cast iron. They work.

Mostly.

All the same, I'm INFINITELY glad I found my car, and that it's basically undamaged.

Same here

Hello...

Thought I would comment. I noticed the other day that I don't get angry at Minnesota drivers as much as I use to. I find myself driving SLOWER and being more polite to the idiots on the freeway. Nothing has changed in my life other than receiving my carry permit a little over a week ago. Subconsciously I must be telling myself to be safer?
