I'm kind of old school so this idea of Blogs is sort of new to me. l'm just wondering though are there any gun blogs that you guys think are worth listening to and or watching?

Well, if you consider videos on YouTube to be podcasts, go to You Tube and search for TFBtv. The ones with James Reaves always give me a chuckle or two.

also search on YouTube for Hickock45.

Most gun podcasts I've tried suffer from good ol' boy syndrome. The hosts are friends and so they develop a bunch of inside jokes and spend a lot of time doing callbacks to things the audience doesn't understand or that were part of their lives outside the show. It's not unusual for the first 10-15 minutes to have maybe only one piece of decent info buried among all the good ol' boy stuff as they all try to see which one can get in the best insult or describe all the uninteresting things they did since the last show. There's one I tried to listen to (Maybe Handgun Radio?) where they actually have a favorite drink segment that they expect you to suffer through before getting around to talking about guns.

Get used to using the fast forward button a lot is my advice.

Not to self promote, but I have one that I haven't been super active with lately.

Internet Movie Firearms Podcast

On all major podcast platforms. I go over movies and their guns, each episode is a different movie. I try to keep it informative but not preachy. Just a guy that loves movies and guns that doesn't take himself too seriously

Thanks when I get time I'll check them out

I occasionally watch gun channels on YouTube. Hickock45 can be entertaining, and the "CapandBall" channel is very interesting if you enjoy blackpowder.

On the whole, though, I find gun videos in general and "podcasts" in particular to be annoying and pointless. Many of them are not much more than some guy at the range yapping on about stuff he halfway understands, or interviewing some other guy about things he halfway understands - and it all takes place at glacial speeds, with unhelpful sidetracks and advertisements for some useless thing or another.

I'll admit to being a cranky old man, but if I'm looking for actual information I'd rather read it from trusted sources, and if I'm looking for entertainment I'll find something actually entertaining. The only people I'd enjoy hearing from in a podcast are people who wouldn't be caught dead in a podcast!

This is a good place to start…

https://www.guntalk.com/

I always listed to the Gun Talk radio show on the podcast app. It’s easy. It is three 48 minute sessions available every Sunday after the show airs. Plus a 30 minute “after show”. I enjoy it.

I second the podcast of the Gun Talk Radio program. Of all the gun podcasts I've listened to, Tom Gresham is the only one I have stuck with over the years.

I saw the Hickok45 where he shot the S&W .500
Magnum. Distroyed a concrete block! And his hand
I think lol

Except for the Hickok fellow - whom I cannot abide - you and I think alike on this.

I can't sit through most videos; they tend to pack 2 minutes of information into a 13-minute yawn-fest.

I tried to listen to Grisham, but couldn't. Too much useless drivel, and not enough gun talk. I listened to 5 or 6 of his shows; it's just not for me.

Good luck to the OP. It's hard to find informative, well-written articles too.

Vortex Nation Podcast is the one I have been listening too lately. I listen on youtube but I am sure they broadcast in other places.

In fact I have about a three hour drive across central Texas today and plan on listening to a couple of them.

I find the best way to listen to podcasts is via the app on my iPhone. I download the ones I want and play them through the vehicle radio.

I hear ya, but they are supposed to be informative and entertaining. I think of it as talk radio on demand, and just play it while I’m driving, cooking, cleaning guns, or working in the garage. I prefer it to radio.

I really like Gresham’s guests, as they can educate me on 2A legislation, new guns and gear, etc. But he does have his opinions, and I don’t agree with all of them.

If i need technical stuff, I go to You Tube or a specific website.

I really enjoy Hornady’s podcast, they’ve been doing a deep dive into ballistics. It obviously has a slant towards their products but they definitely give a lot of general information as well.

....like with others, I see most of the firearm podcasts/YouTube/blogs as narcissistic self promotion, with little real/new information to be gleaned. They're fine if you have nuttin' else to do and have low expectations, but don't expect to walk away being impressed. Like with the rest of the huge wealth of information out there on the interweb, the real worthy stuff is far and few between. One can get just as much legitimate information here.

God, Family, & Guns in my favorite.

Seems like people are confusing YouTubers with podcasters…really not the same thing at all.

For anybody doubting Tom Gresham’s Guntalk, realize that it’s a nationally syndicated radio show, broadcast over hundreds of radio channels all over the country, that also happens to be avaible as a recorded podcast. He regularly has some of the biggest names in the industry on his show, everything from manufacturers, to top competive shooters, hunters, trainers, and 2A rights activists. The content is a good mix of guns and gear, shooting, training, hunting, and politics. Give it a try.

The primary issue for me is simply that verbal communication is slow, and that only the most polished speakers are able to say exactly what they mean without fillers and distractions. Moreover, even the best listeners will occasionally miss something, or mishear something, or simply need to back up for a moment to gain full understanding. When I'm really looking for information, I would far rather read it.
