Is it just me or are some gun prices lower than they have been? Seems are prices are lower on Gun Broker recently. It may be a reflection of the economy or unemployment numbers.

Nope, gun prices in my area have increased. An example Glocks are up $25 at my LGS. Gen 3 and 4 same price. I haven't priced any new guns with the holes in the sides and extra junk. Used older revolvers demand premium prices.

We've found that summers can be a little slow. Part of it's the economy, part of it is that the bump from the folks who got income tax refunds has passed.

Also, folks go on vacation over the summer so they're not buying guns (but they are buying ammo), and the pre-hunting-season demand hasn't hit yet.

ETA: There have been price increases at the distributor level, probably due to the price increase in commodities - metals of all kinds are up. This will translate into an increase at the retail shop.

Give it time this new Commonsense gun control Obama was talking about will drive them back up when they release what they plan to do. Anyone have a clue as to what they are going to go after? Or is this just all talk from the White House?

I've found the opposite to be true, prices are way up in my area's retailers. Both in the big chain stores and the small one business operations. Noticeably higher on just about everything. Further more due to the Wisconsin CCW getting passed finally the big stores (Gander Mountain, Scheels etc) have cranked up the price in the NE Wisconsin area on all pistols, CCW intended pistols especially.

The local shop I go to the prices are reasonable, and usually very competitive with online prices after transfer fees, etc.
Gander on the other hand... I avoid that place :uhoh:

Summertime is also range season, so I see lots of guns get traded in for new/different stuff. Sales slump slightly, but ammo sales jump.

local gun store is ok,but where i see way overpriced guns is pawnshops,"goodness what have they been smoking,10 years ago i used to find deals at pawnshops.not anymore..

Prices at the gun shops around here are below list all the time but they never really have any sales that save a lot.
As hunting season rolls around Cabelas usually has fair sales on rifles. Very few sales during the year.
Wal-Mart around here does not carry gun anymore.
I liked the old days when K-Mart & Wards had guns & ammo but the anti gunners took care of that.

I'm getting worried about this. I'm thinking about buying some extra magazines this week because of this news. What are the chances of a magazine ban?

I haven't noticed any lower gun prices, but I'm looking at online purchases lately.

Some of the new models have been on sale or makers are offering rebates, so there are some good deals out there if you are willing to look and take your time. Sadly revolvers in my field of interest, pre. 1980's Smith and Wesson .357 Magnums are still hard to find and are STILL EXPENSIVE.

I think the pawn shop people have been spending too much time watching Pawn Stars.

I really do not think the prices have gone down . I believe people are just not paying those unreasonable prices that are listed as starting prices now. Seems most auctions never hit the reserve. Guess the frenzy has died down after the messiah has had a couple of years in the oval office.

Seasonal adjustment. The goods industry slows down in July so retailers have to slash prices.

Some guns have gone down, some up. I think the high prices plateaued after about 1-1.5 years into Obama's term. Now they are back to "normal" but bound to go up again especially if the NRA lawsuit falls through.

AR's seem way down around here...... AK's have gone up quite a bit...... The big box stores haven't changed much and the pawn shops are ridiculous as usual but you can talk them down a good 25-30% usually with cash. I think they start high to see if someone is dumb enough to pay their asking price without haggling.

I have found some excellent deals on used stuff lately though. In the last 2 weeks I've picked up a like new S&W 1911 for $500, a like new Superior Arms AR15 with Surefire light, tango grip, KAC rail, and 5 pmags for $500, and just today I picked up a Ruger P95DC stainless in excellent shape for $200.

broken:

Guys often claim that pawn shop owners check sale prices at "Gunsamerica" etc to decide how to list their guns.

The question is whether many guns in pawn shops sell for similar prices, or whether the guns' conditions are very similar.

well i have been looking for a used 9mm or .40 for two weeks but my budget is only 250.00,dont laugh ,what my wife allowed..i have found a few but then tax shoots me out of the ballpark, like 10.00 on every hundred i spend.so yes i found a few decent 239.00 to 249.00 smiths ,rugers but tax shoots it up another 30.00.so i will continue saving i guess.

I find that like everything else it's just taking longer to sell things.
