Gun Rights for former felons

They have to meet some pretty high standards and be convicted by 12 people who also agree.

no not in the real world

Have laws against murders stopped murders? Have laws against rape stopped rape?
Maybe we should do away with laws since they are ineffective.

Stripping away an enumerated right because of conviction (and that continues to be stripped after release) doesn't fly for the other things in the Bill of Rights.

Why would it for firearms?

I'm all for using the 'change it' clause in the Constitution, but as it's written now, there isn't a 'take these things away in the case of a felony' addendum to "shall not be infringed."

Lots of political philosophy. Not much legal.

As near as I can tell from the legal-process standpoint there are only two ways to regain one's firearms rights. One is via appeals through BATFE, and they have no funds budgeted for any employee to review applications. The other is via a presidential pardon. The first is thus a dead end, and the second appears to only be available to wealthy Democrats.

Enough. Six pages worth of enough.
