This is the size I want as I have around 12 long guns and some handguns.

Experiences with the following?

Sturdy safes
Champion Trophy or Triumph or Security by Champion
Cannon 30
Liberty Colonial or Franklin
Smith Security
Homeland Security

It appears that the price range for these safes is $1500 to 2100 depending upon the safe. Seems going below this amount gets you mostly import safes from China.

I have the Champion Triumph in your size and although I am very happy with mine, I don't keep a lot of long guns, I guess it would hold 12, but tightly spaced.
I got the electronic lock and use it every day. The dealer made an additional shelf for me, using the factory fabric at no charge.
The paint is first rate, and they mounted the goldenrod on the underside of the bottom shelf so it doesn't show. Great choice.

I'm wondering if I should just keep my smaller safe and put it right next to my new safe. I have a space where I could put my new safe in a corner and then put my old safe right next to it. The old safe would then "protect" the new safe from brute force attack from the side. I could put my less expensive items in the older safe and more expensive in the new safe.

A self built safe is in the works for me. Just make the outside a nicer wood that can be finished up and line it with 2-4 layers of drywall for fireproofness. And then just make your own door with a full length hinge. Just make sure you don't have gaps around the door, it needs to be tight and preferable sealed with a good fireproof seal (im still playing with different stuff).

Cheaper and looks good. But it takes a lot of time and energy to build correctly. Built right it should hold up to anything. My current one is a handgun box that just has a removable lid, I could through that thing into a fire for a good while and not worry about it (paperless drywall is a plus).

I've never seen one in person, and their website doesn't give much information.

Any particular reason you're leaning that way?

I'm assuming price is a factor, and I have a suspicion that this will certainly be one of those situations where you get what you pay for.

Seems like a quality RSC for the money. 10 gauge steel instead of 12 gauge offered by most in this price range. For similar money, I can order a Champion Trophy or Superior Products safe locally.

I've been really happy with my sturdy safe. 7 gauge and it actually holds the number of long guns they say it will hold without them touching each other. I've got the model 2723 and it holds 20 long guns with shelves for the handguns.

The model 3627 matches your size wants and will hold many more guns than mine does. I was really pleased with their customer service and the price was pretty good as well.

I've got a Centurion by Liberty. I've got about 12 long guns in it and several pistols, and am using the shelves for the portable fire/lock box and other things that need to be locked up.

I feel that my guns are much more secure this way.
