    Hello,

Can someone recommend a reputable gun shop/range in the Allentown, PA area for a lady who is unfamiliar with firearms but needs to purchase one for self defense?

Would like one that will take the time to explain gun safety and proper handling and even perhaps allow her to try several options before purchasing. Having an actual Handgun 101 type class and range onsite would be great too.

    Thanks.
    SS

Don't know about Allentown, but Heritage Guild in Easton (just off I-78) is a nice clean well-equipped store with a professional staff, indoor range and training classes. They even have a course specific for ladies.

That looks just about the right location and type of facility (she will likely appreciate the ladies only option). Thank you!

And if you can make it out a bit west of you, Trop's in Elizabethtown is excellent, has excellent staffing and instructors, and definitely caters to the ladies. Even hosts "A Girl And a Gun" shoots frequently.

I was born & raised in the LV, and have family in Easton. I've taken my niece there for her first (and second) shooting experience, and it was perfect for that. I can't speak to their classes, but again, it was clean, safe, professional. Plenty of guns to rent as well.

BTW, they also sell reloading supplies, pretty high-end guns, and lots of nice collectibles, so the experienced shooter best leave their credit card and checkbook at home. :D

Trops has become a destination. If you haven't hung out in a fully modern gun shop, you should.
