Washington DC area...

So far a pro story abut a girl whose dad is a gun smith, and built a cannon to have his ashes shot out of it when he died... She was anti but then gets closer to her dad because of their common interest in similar "gadget fields".

Then a story about the author of a book called "Fist, stick, knife, gun". Guy grew up afraid of the gangs in New York. He bought a gun and thought he got too confident because he stopped avoiding situations like confrontations with shady people... so he throws the gun away.

Story of male cop shot multiple times point blank in a squad car, cop becomes gun control advocate. :(

...and a girl whose business was robbed - truck smashes through window and driver starts shooting people one after the other . Girl says she was mad at herself for leaving her gun in the car to obey Texas law. Gunman shot her father, then shot her mother point blank. Became a gun advocate and ccw advocate, and became a state representative. :D

"Straw purchasing" - a person with no record buying a gun for a person who is unable to legally buy a gun.

Guy who bought his convict friend a gun started being asked to buy guns for other convicts. Over 2 years the guy bought about 60 guns for drug dealers. A few were used in crimes that he knows of. Guy was on welfare while he made $ selling guns. "Just somethng to keep his head above water". Most of the guns were eventually recovered by police.

Some kids "borrowed" their fathers duty pistol and made fake blanks that shot ketchup loads. Then they jumped out in front of cars at night and staged a murder in the headlights of the car.

Overall the show was not strongly anti or pro, but the two females in the stories became more pro-gun than they were before. Two males became anti-gun. Interesting!

The pro-gun "girl" was Suzanne Gratia Hupp, (we would refer to her as a "lady" here in the southwest) who survived the Luby's killings. (It was not her place of business -she is something in the health care field, can't remember what). She is one of the big reasons there is CCW in Texas today, which paved the way for many other states, including my own. She is a Texas state representative today, from a town I drive through occasionally to visit my mother. She is an outstanding gun advocate. Since the shooting she has married and had at least one child, so she may not be appearing quite as much as she used to on talk shows about guns.

Thanks Okie - didn't get all the specifics. A lot of other people would take on an anti-gun mentality after seeing their parents killed like that. It's good to hear a few pro-gun stories with all the anti crap out there.

Thanks Hammer!

I missed the Prologue on the radio so I got to listen to that with the link. Didn't realize that show went back to 1997.

The first segment with the mousy sounding anti and her father shooting his cannon was a riot. :D

A quote from her, "I've given this a lot of thought, how to convey the giddiness I felt as the cannon shot off and I wish there was a more articulate way to say this but there isn't. It's just really, really cool!"

Fist Stick Knife Gun? I have that book, had to read it earlier this year for a Sociology class. :barf: I ended up withdrawing from the class half way through the semester. ;)

dragging up this old post...

I just learned that the voice of Violet Parr in The Incredibles is that of Sarah Vowell who was the same girl who did the canon segment with her father that I reference above.

Heh. I thought that was kind of cool.

Pro gun radio

The propaganda war for 2008 is on!
Nancy Pelosi is being interviewed now coming out of church. She spouts things like "God created everything" as if she is a conservative. The dems will be God fearing, church going, hunter's gun rights advocates(on camera) because they are trying to change their image. It is happening this soon after the election, so that they can effectively lie for long enough to make the morons out there forget what they really are. Pelosi will probably go duck hunting soon, with chuck schumer and hitlary clinton. The propaganda war is on, and now you can expect to see mildly middle of the road things about guns as well as anti gun messages designed to convince us that the anti gun message is really the more humane and logical.

If you watch the They Might Be Giants documentary "Gigantic (A Tale of Two Johns)," both Sarah Vowell and Ira Glass are interviewed on multiple occasions.
