Hi all,
I am looking for a FFL to do a gun transfer from Wisconsin to Florence, South Carolina. Does anyone have any recomendations?

Thanks,
Larry

Call Southland Guns in Darlington, SC at 843-393-6291. They're 15 minutes from Florence.

If they can't do what you need, let me know and I'll get another guy's number for you.

There's also Doc's Gun Exchange (nice foks) and Normans Gun Exchange (the mother is ok, the father and son are not)...I'd call and see what they charge on tranfers.

I know a great one in Columbia. About an hour drive, but he's good. Charges $15 to $20 per transfer. Don't ask me why the differences in prices. I think it's $20 for first timers, then $15 from then on. Best Deal Pawn and Gun on Two Notch road.

Hey Cacique500, did you know that Doc's is under new ownership now? Haven't been in there since the change, so I don't know about the new guy.

The people in Normans are OK, but they're expensive.

I've bought guns at both of those places, but would recommend Southland still. I did just find out today about a guy in Lamar who is a home FFL, but I haven't gotten his contact info. A guy in Florence who does firearms training said he's a really nice guy to work with. I'll let you know when I get it.

Yes I know that Doc's has new management - never met Doc but have met the new guys and they're really nice. Not much in stock at the moment as they're still getting the store together. Father and son run it I believe.

Southland has the best stock in the area from what I've seen but the manager annoys me - he's one of those types that never looks you in the eye and is always "too busy" to spend quality time with you. If you don't mind your salesperson continuously looking at the floor, they do have pretty good prices.

There's also a really good gunsmith in the area and I'm pretty sure they have an FFL, might be worth a visit to see what he'll do on transfers...believe he's in Darlington and on the main drag back to Florence...store is on the right heading South. (Very nice folks in there as well)

Good to know- I'll have to check out Doc's out again. I liked Doc, but just haven't made it back to the store since he's been gone.

I know what you're saying about Mike in Southland. I never deal with him, always Trey. Mike is one of the top sporting clays shooters in the state, and he knows it. Trey is good to work with, though.

The other place you're referring to is Darlington Gun Works. LOL- you must have caught him on an exceptional day, he has a reputation around here for being an ornery old coot, but an excellent gunsmith. As the crow flies, it's only about three or four miles from my house, but i don't stop in that often.

Another one to call might be Irby Street Sporting Goods in Florence. They're good guys to work with, too.
