"Is there anything to get rid of the smell out of my new gun vault?"

Yes. Cosmoline. Spread some on the walls and floor; that will take care of your smell problem. :p

While I personally like the smell of Cosmoline, I don't think that was what he had in mind. :scrutiny:

Oooh I understand better now. :)

I was like.. you have a gun vault.. it smells bad...

I was going to make a joke about not storing dead hookers in it, but decided not to. (Referring to the serial killer in Peoria, IL, so it's more of a "local joke" and most people wouldn't get it)

Talk to a friend of mine. Clark Ellard. He is in the Atlanta GA area but has constructed vaults as far west as New Mexico. He custom builds vault doors to your specifications.

I am an achitect with over 35 years experience with design and forensic design work. I see lots of really bad advice in ths thread from amatuers in the design and construction industry. Building codes prohibit many of the ideas and yes these codes apply to residential construction as well as commercial construction. The codes have changed drastically over the past 10-12 years, You need a code conforming design and a building permit. Hire a qualified design professional to tackle these issues unless you want a disaster and a court order from the local authority having jurisdiction to tear down nonconforming work.
