If you are looking for dirt cheap fantastic deals, gunbroker is not the place for that, but if you shop smart and excersize some patience, you can do alright there.

I sold a S&W 27-2 SS .357 NIB for $1,400 was expecting to get $7-$800. I have bought a few guns thru GB but none were great deals after you add the xfer fee, shipping and taxes.

Gunbroker is like any other free market, sometimes you get a good deal sometimes you don't. Alot of people try to snipe at the last min but they have the 15 min rule so that is pretty neat. Occasionally you get a good deal, say for instance, if I am looking for a certain item for fun, not seriously, say maybe I'd like an AK but only want to spend X amount of dollars, I check alot of auctions to gauge the current prices decide what is reasonable, then keep track of maybe 8 different auctions watching the demand. You may lose 20 auctions this way but occasionally you find a great deal, which is worth it to me.
