Gunleather StandardS?

Hi all,
Is there a standard? 1 1/2" belts, 2" belt slots in holsters, etc.
Does anyone know what the deal is? I recently got a Texas Gunleather belt which is 1 3/8", and my Dillon slide holster is approx. 1 7/8". I am used to IWB, but am leaning towards belt slides for CC. Basically, ARRGH! It's pretty good but seems to be a tad sloppy. Just want to know if a little "give" is normal for a slide on belt setup...

I've had good luck sticking with 1 1/2" belts and holsters from the better companies (Bianchi, Galco, Safariland, El Paso, etc.) Have not yet had the pleasure of trying others but their websites seem to suggest 1 1/2" belts. Not sure what you mean by "sloppy" but it does not sound good. All my leather is secure on my gun belts. BTW, a cheap 1 1/2" belt (read that, thin and flimsy) is not a gun belt.

Yep, you are correct...
The belt is 3/16" thick and fairly heavy. I made the mistake of not having the holster handy. The "slop" is minimal; the holster is secure... I just figured it would be much tighter belt to holster.
Many thanks for your reply; I'll be sure next time I ask the seller what to look for.

Tight is good (no off color jokes please) but too tight is a pain! You will find you need just a little bit of play to tweak the holster into just the right position. The late Skeeter Skelton once commented that he had to have his wife move the belt loops on some of his trousers to get just the right fit and placement for his holsters. I hope that never happens to me! My wife can't sew worth a darn.

Almost all of the good holsters are available for different belt widths, the most popular being 1 1/4" and 1 1/2". I agree that you need a good belt.

I know what you mean by "sloppy". I wear OWB pancake type holsters only. The last 3 have been www.bulmangunleather.com holsters and I have found whats feels best to me is just a little play also. I order my holsters a .25 inch bigger than my belt is. That little play is good for comfort.

That is why I switched to Lee Jeans about 4 years ago, they come with two more belt loops through the hip area. Plus use can run a belt under the Lee patch on the back. Makes "locking" a holster in place a done deal. Just do with before putting your pants on.

Since I normally always wear jeans most of my belts are 1 3/4" with corresponding holsters.

I have two or three 1 1/2" belts, again with corresponding holsters.

Basically belt slots should be the same as belt width, most belts actually being just a fraction under the listed size to fit securely enough without being a pain to get off and on.
