I think they've been discontinued.
I was very interested in the concept too. However, IIRC, it wouldn't fit 870's or 590's with rifle sights on the reciver, which eliminated my 590 from consideration. I saw lots of anecdotal complaints about fit and compatablity issues on the various gun boards, so I think the LongGunVault never got very far off the ground.
I hope GunVault is just re-vamping the product, and comes out with one that will fit a wide range of shotguns and carbines. It's still a great idea, and I've never found a "cruiser clamp" that was a suitable substitute, or as well fleshed out as the LongGunVault concept.
I never got a close look at a LongGunVault, so it might already be similar to this. However, I think the way to go would be some kind of tough clamshell box somewhat like a waffle iron, or a "George Foreman Grill" that holds the buttons, the locking mechanisim, the mounting hardware and the hinge. For customization or compatability, you ordered tough plastic inserts that fit the reciever/trigger group/stock area of your particular longarm.
They could mould them on a custom basis so there were no worries about producing too many or too few of any particular model. They could even have "drop free" and "holding" variants, depending on how you want it to deploy when opened.
