I couldn't reply to the original thread about guns in France anymore so I'm making this post.
I read in the original thread that france had 19 million registered firearms, but according to the Small Arms Survey there are only 2.8 million registered firearms in France, but like 18-19 million unregistered ones.
So I am wondering which claim is right here, what is the definite source/authority on this figure? I'd really like to know since that seems rather extreme, and also quite low, 2.8 million registered guns, I always thought the french had more legal guns than that, given that the Germans have 10 million for instance (and about 20 million illegal ones, man these gun registering schemes sure do leave holes don't they).
