In light of the November election are you buying more firearms, ammunition,or beans? The fact that another AWB could be in our future if Obama is elected is a real threat. I am stocking up on magazines and ammo when I can.

No.

I'm picking up a box of bullets here, a pound of this or that powder, maybe a bag of 50 pieces of brass. Basically just replenishing what I shoot and beefing up stock of some of my favorite hunting and target loads, as I've managed to dwindle some of them down to nearly nothing. :(

Nope. For the last 3 years I've been buying a box of ammo on every trip to Wal-Mart. Even with bi-weekly range trips, I'm pretty well set. Around the same time I started doing that, I also reconsolidated my firearms collection a bit to sell off the safe queens and make sure I had all the EBR toys that I wanted. I've also surfed regularly for deals on mags.

Beans? I'll only stock up if there's legislation to ban high-capacity cans or other features such as a "secret family recipe."

Going to buy ammo in the next month because I only own a few hundred rounds. Probably buy a few more magazines as well.

I'm stocking up on all of it, including Kevlar, and full tactical gear.

It's not because of an election.

It's because of the events coming around the corner to the western world, you're fixing to know why you fear federal government, it's not because of the AWB either.

This **** isn't a conspiracy theory, it's real.

Don't love your government, they don't love you.

It's not bush's fault or obama's they play on the same time.

Our ignorance did this to our selves.

I was going to get a handgun anyway.
I might pick up some slugs, because it stinks to live in a slug-only state, then have them banned.:mad:But only if the legislation looks like it's going to be voted in soon.
And if a hi-cap ban looks practical, maybe some 10/22 mags.

Yeah I'm thinking of getting yet another evil black rifle. I think I can squeeze one more in.

Yes I'm trying to manage a new ar, ak, and assorted mags in anticipation of a new AWB. This may be our last chance to pick any up.
I also think a "one party rule" federal government will be disastrous for the economy. The tax hikes, additional regulations and entitlements will weaken us all the way around. Stocking up on essentials seems like a wise thing to do.

I'm not really stockpiling, but having been a Boy Scout in another lifetime I think that "Be Prepared" is probably a good idea. Things don't look like they're going to be improving very quickly, and if the government decides to "help" us out more than they already have the stinky stuff could well hit the air movement equipment in a major way. :uhoh:

The government that's big enough to give you everything you (think you) need, is big enough to take everything you have. Too many people who think that it'd be great to have the government run this or that or the other thing have never spent an hour or more standing in line at a government office waiting to be treated rudely by one of your very own employees.:cuss:

The local gun store says they have had alot of cases of ammo go out the door recently. People that used to buy by the box are stocking up now.

What is this, the 5th "foil helmet" thread in less than a week?

How many of you who are stocking up did the same this for Y2K?

How'd THAT work out for ya?

Think more. Worry less.

I do and many others do think that we have a lot to worry about with an Obama presidency with a congress full of like minded folks willing to pass the sort of things he wants to do. I worry for my family and my country. I can't ignore what has happened in the past and know what is true. I won't drink the Obama Kool Aid!

Buy a man a box of ammo and he has shooting fun for a day.

Teach a man to reload and he has shooting fun for life.

Stocking up on lead, primers, powder, cases. Don't need more mouths to feed, just fodder to feed 'em.
Also laid in all the full-capacity magazines I could scrounge up last year just because they were cheap- then.

Otherwise, why bother? If they do another ban, it won't be another AWB-Lite like last time, any new ban will out-and-out make 'em all contraband, no grandfathering, no resale, no removing "eeeevil" features to be compliant- they will stop beating around the bush and say none of any of these guns or anything that looks like them, period.

I doubt an AWB will pass in the next year, but a backdoor ammo tax sure could! Think about it, how many hunter types would care if their ammo went up to $80 for a box of 30-30? They'd get by as they only shoot half a box a year to begin with. If the cost of .223 goes to $4/shot who could afford to shoot their EBR?

Could they ban reloading gear? Sure, but components like primers would be alot easier. You can make your own bullets, and if you really had to you can make use of non ideal smokeless powders (think pistol powder with cast rifle bullets), but primers require some serious equipment to fabricate. Brass can be recycled into various forms for a long time.

If I have the money this january I'd like to pick up an AR lower too.

I believe we are in for rough weather in the next few years no matter who wins this election.
Sometimes you cannot see a crisis coming. This past Sunday our area had a gas shortage real or imagined there was little or no gasoline at most stores. The news did not see it coming because there were no reports or any warnings. However you could drive in any direction and not find any gasoline for sale. Had this been a get out of Dodge moment a bunch of folks who live day to day would have been in a mess. It pays to be ready.
