I'd like the more Interesting Reasons you own some of your guns:

Here is my list:
---------------
1) Ruger .357 Security Six Revolver - Home defence/general anarchy on the farm.
2) Glock-17 Pistol, SKS Rifle - Combat. For when the Ruskies or Chinese invade, darn them!
3) 1911-A1 .45 Pistol - Ninjas, rabid bears, walking dead, and giant alien vampire spiders from Mars (Seen moslty here in the South.)
4) 12 Gauge Remington 870 Pump - Just because firing 00 buck is so fun!

:scrutiny: No, I'm not paranoid. Really! What are you looking at? Are you staring at me?!

M1 Garand, M1 Carbine, Russian M44, Italian Carcano, French MAS 36/51, Remington 03A3, Enfield No.4 Mk.1, Enfield Jungle Carbine - Because they are the firearms used in WWII and are fun to shoot.

NAA .22LR Mini-Revolver and Cobray/FMJ .410/.45LC SxS derringer - Because they are really strange firearms.

Colt M16A1 - Because it is/was the standard military rifle used by the US and it's fun to shoot.

H&K MP5SD - Because it is the premier submachinegun of Special Forces/Counter Terrorist/Law Enforcement and is fun to shoot.

I buy my guns for nostalgic reasons,

Just bought a SPAS 12 because it is awesome looking
and I've seen Arnold use one on the big screen.

I did buy a colt Sistema for CCW

I bought a single shot H&R 20 gauge because I had a couple hundred shells sitting in my closet for 20 years

I bought an H&R 45-70 single shot handi rifle because I found
500 empty 45-70 brass on the ground at the range.

I bought a remington 870 wingmaster because it was on sale for $69 at the pawn shop.

Really don't need a reason to buy a gun or a purpose.

Half the fun is figuring out what you are going to do with it.

'Cause of the voices in my head :)

Sadly in my case, it's the Kalifornian grabbers who keep adding to the list I gotta buy before it's too late.

For most of them....

Because I like it.

For several specific rifles and pistols, because they will shoot very, very accurately.

And the old 1911 that goes places with me, because it works!

Guns-Why Not

Because when the sun shines I shoot them and when it rains I reload and clean them.

Because I can

The vast majority of the world cannot own firearms of any kind.

If the liberal hacks in this country interpreted the 2nd amendment the same way that they interpreted the 1st amendment, gun ownership would be mandatory.

Well the original reason I bought the MAK-90 and a boatload of 30 round mags was because of the Brady buisiness, but it's also a boatload of fun to shoot, even if 5 MOA is about what seems to be the norm off of a rest with that thing.

The Kimber I bought for CCW, likewise the PT-945. The riot shotgun I bought because, uh, it followed me home! yeah! that's it! it followed me home:eek:

:D

Sp101:carry gun
Taurus PT99:IDPA
Ruger MKII: plinking
Rem.870 20ga.:skeet
Ruger 10/22: plinking,small game
16 ga. generic single shot:my Father won it when he was kid and it was the first gun I shot.
Mossberg 410 ga:crow gun
Soon to have...1911:every American should have one:D

Because as I get older and gain more experience, I regret having gotten rid of some guns in the past. I am now better able to "atone" for my past sins. :D

"A gun is a tool" said Shane. You get tools to do specific jobs.

Ruger P95: My CCW weapon. Fits my hand well, holds 15+1 rounds of Speer Gold Dots, not as hard to conceal as you might think.

Kel-Tec P32: Wife's CCW weapon. Manageble with her Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

Mossberg 500 Pump 12 gauge: Home defense weapon. Nothing beats a scattergun for intimidation & suppression, and #8 shot won't go though the walls like pistol/rifle ammo.

Ruger 10/22: Lotta shootin' for a little ammo budget.

I'm REALLY bad at basketball. Baseball is too hot and dry. Knees won't allow football. Can't lift weights but every other day. Water skiiing is out--hate water up the nose. Snow skiing-same knees. Car racing is too expensive. Motorcycle racing is too dangerous. Aerobatics make me tense, always afraid some moron will fly through the box when I upside down. So what is left? :D

Reasons??? Hey, they're just fun to have around, don'y have to have another reason. always looking to buy more.
1911 (2) SA, Colt/Essex frame
Glocks (2) 21,22
Rem 700 Police DM w/SA scope
numerous .22's, ( too many to remember offhand)
AR( Hesse lower), SKS
shotguns, Rem, Mossberg, couple off brands
Hmmmmmmmm,,,know I forgot some......

There is no other sport or hobby as versitile as firearms collecting.

What other single sport or hobby gives you :

WoodWorking
MetalWorking
A test of skill
a chance to exercise your rights as an American
A means of defending yourself and your family.

There is so much to it, especially if you get into reloading...
Its mechanical, its technical, plenty of skill required, and the variables are endless.

The question is... "Guns - Why Not? "
