How long does it normally take a seller to reply to your offer? Its been two days. Perhaps the excitement of wanting my gun is comparable to a 5 year old on Christmas eve. :what:

gunsamerica is fubar. I wouldn't be surprised at all if the 'contact seller' feature was messed up ;)

Sorry to say but I agree, 3 times over the past year I have tried to contact a seller for a gun I wanted, never a reply.

What's a good website with the same premise as Guns America?
Guns America doesn't have a premise any more. They used to be a straightforward listing service, as opposed to the numerous auction sites that clutter up the Internet. Apparently GA decided they want to be everything, so they are now both a listing service AND an auction site. Except that the search feature is broken, they want casual browsers to register (they still have not responded to my multiple enquiries as to WHY I should register if I never intend to sell a gun through them), and the last time I tried to look on their sorry excuse for a "new and improved" web site, all I got was a screen full of HTML code.

They are history. I believe that unless they wake up and go back to being what they were, people will continue to desert them in droves.

And yet --

I just completed a transaction via Guns America this AM (2/5/07).

Used the "Find A FFL" feature in the lower right hand side of each listing, put in the name of the offeror, got their contact info and was done in about 5 minutes. Got my FFL to fax a copy out at lunchtime, and got a phone call back saying they got the fax and the item was going into USPS via Priority Mail tomorrow, so it should be in my hands before the weekend.

OK, so I got a bit upset at getting a Mailer Deamon message saying my email via GA's link was dead in the ether. Adding another $1.27 to the total cost for the lomg-distance phone call was not a deal breaker for me.

Yeah, I was feeling like a kid in a candy store with a whole nickle to spend [now you know how old I am - for the math-impaired think of how long ago dirt was invented and add 2 years]. I got up on my tippy-toes and hoisted my nose over the top of the counter. Now I'm getting candy!

In other words, there is more than one way to get in touch with the seller.

stay safe.

You don't have an answer on a Sunday and you are concerned?

And it is SUPERBOWL Sunday - if they are like me they took the wekend and Monday off.

Wait until Wednesday for them to catch up.

My last transaction through GunsAmerica (mid January, if memory serves) went like this:
1) Found what I was looking for, printed a page from the listing.
2) Used the imbedded message facility to notify the seller.
3) Looked up the seller on the FFL facility.
4) Called the dealer (caught him on his cell phone), and got his mailing address over the phone.
5) Mailed the paperwork that day.

No worries, cover your bases. GunsAmerica has developed a very high 'CLUNK' factor with the latest release of software.

I'd only deal w/ the big stores on there.

I don't like their new website format, however.

I'm always a day late and a dollar short.

After gunsamerica.com seemed set to stay the course with their new auction site (and broken search function!), I started to put together a simple, straightforward classified ads site in an effort to eventually produce a replacement resource for gunsamerica's very handy ads list.

I'd just finished my work and posted it to guns-list.com, when I noticed that gunsamerica has their old functionality back (including search!), albeit with a new look.

So, gunsamerica.com isn't broken anymore, and if they do break their site again, maybe enough folks will post free listings at guns-list.com so that such a resource will continue to exist. ;)

gunsamerica.com is still broken.

Required to register in order to search.

Less user friendly search features (to me anyways).

Smaller pictures than what sellers used to be able to post.

Forum function still shut off, old posts deleted. Can't have an area where users can explain exactly how they screwed up (yes before they deleted it there were hundreds of posts by sellers complaining about the new format).

So no, it is not the old format. And no, it isn't fixed.

The old GA site allowed one to search by 1) State 2) ad date and 3) area code.

That made it very easy to find LOCAL and CURRENT ads. A keyword search alone sucks imho.

I've only used the plain "search" box on gunsamerica, and I've just used it twice without being asked to register. I do note, however, that the "Advanced search" link won't work without a login, tho, so I stand corrected.

I liked the old listing-by-category layout they had - didn't use the search function all that much, since the categories were almost always specific enough for me. I do see what you mean, tho.

that the "Advanced search" link won't work without a login

However, if i were to click on new today, it would list to-day's guns, and have an advanced search area to the side, where i could enter search words, timeframe, price range, state, ffl or not, and so on. So :neener: to the new gunsamerica.

local

I like the local search feature. It helps to find what you want without using FFL's.

But seeing as most users on Gunsamerica.com are FFL's, kinda hurts.

In the past month I have bought a S&W 27-2, S&W 22 and a Marlin Guide gun I found on GA. I have no complaints except that the old format was better.
