Gunshow Buys

I enjoy going to gun shows and set up at my local show 3-4 times a year. At my age I don't like having to walk around all day, so now I have a place to sit when my feet start getting tired. I also set up on opening day early as possible and then walk the show as the other guys are setting up. There are some good deals to be found on set-up days. You guys who think getting htere at 8 AM Saturday will reveal some good deals forget me and a lot of other guys have been walking the show all day Friday.

And finally I get to bring in a cooler with a nice lunch so no more exhibit hall hot dogs. And finally I do find some hard to locate items every once in a while, and I get the company of a lot of like-minded collectors. Overall not a bad way to spend a weekend.

I agree with most people that the prices are higher than what you would expect for guns. However, every once in a while you run across a good deal, and so I keep going. I have often thought of getting a table just for the opportunity to eyeball the items before the crowds, and maybe score a decent deal. Lately I have found much better deals in the pawn shops as someone else posted.

If I find an inexpensive High Point I will buy it.
My cousin has one and after replacing a bad mag that ugly brick works 100% of the time. Wouldn't want to carry it in my pocket but in the truck would be fine.
Might have to go the the show this weekend just to remind myself of why I don't go to gun shows any more.
Last gun show I went to there was a guy selling "Hotel Quality" bed sheets.

Gunshow Deals??

After countless gunshows its my opinion that a gunshow might actually be the worst possible place to by a gun.
Do you really think a gun dealer will pay $70-$90 per table, drive all the way to the show, pay his help, and then be cheaper than the dealer on the corner?
Good deals happen but are not the normal every day event.
Don't even start me on the items sold at these shows that are not guns. I did not pay my $8-$10 entry fee to see honey, peanuts, flowers, and whatever.
I do like going to the gunshows. Cheap days entertainment. I just do not buy any guns. My best deals have always been pawn shops and online. With few exceptions gunshow gun dealers make money off people that do not know any better.
That said...enjoy the show. I'll see you there.
