Guy walks by with out of control German Shephard, it lunges at your kid.

I'm in my front yard this morning playing catch with my young kid and this young guy walks by with a HUGE german shepherd that is pulling HIM and not being obedient at all. The dog keeps pulling away, and just generally is doing whatever he wants and the guy is spending most of his energy keeping the dog from going into yards. I stand and watch closely as the guy and dog walk past my driveway on the sidewalk and on the sidewalk in front of my front yard. As they got to the sidewalk in front of my front yard, the dog does this violent lunge at my kid while simultaneously letting out an aggressive couple of barks. It got it's paws into my front yard and within a few feet of my child. I had my hand on my holstered 9mm as I was watching all of this from just a few feet away. Since it entered my yard for a second as it lunged and barked at my young child, would you have drawn and fired? The dog's owner didn't bother to apologize or anything

sounds like an idiot with an aggressive dog, but the situation certainly wasn't escalated to the point of drawing and firing.

We are NOT doing another inane 'would you shoot a dog' thread. You wanna know what everyone else here thinks? Read the last eleventy bazillion threads written on this, all of which ended in emotional rants that served no good purpose.

Next time, pick up your kid instead of your pistol. It may be less emotionally satisfying, but it's a lot more effective at keeping your offspring intact.
