Last weekend I took my table saw to the 3 of my extended floor-plate magazines.

The plastic melts and curls at the edges but after some edge scraping with a blade and polishing with 200 grit and more edge-scraping I seem to have usable magazines that do not protrude below the grip. I have rather small hands and never needed the extension while the conceal-ability is significantly increased – whether in a belt or under-arm holster – since the floor-plate protruded by about 1/2 inch extra.
The mags I bought for about $15. The flat floor-plates go for about half of that plush shipping, if they can be found at all.

Loading with a speed-loader is way, way faster and easier than doing it with fingers only. No rounds tropped on the ground or covered in sweat and skin oils, etc.

Since I couldn’t find a magazine speed- loader for USP Comp/P2000 magazine, I got myself the HKS GL-940 loader. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0009TROGA/msnshop-sports-mp-20/ref=nosim
I am pretty sure it is the 940 – I do not have it in front of me.

After I cut off about 0.2 of an inch of the thingy (arm?) that actually does the pushing, it works great on my flat floor-plate magazines when inserted into the second slot from the bottom. So I cut the bottom slot in order to make loader more compact. I now store it in the same factory case as the P2000 with a magazine inside. This way I have the gun, 5 mags, the reloader and the buncg of snap-caps in there.
The loader does not work as well on the original extended plate mags, since they sit higher and the arm scrapes the edge of the magazine rear top. It could probably be made to work well with some filing/adjustment or some other loader model could fit better.
