I recently saw a H&K P7 (PSP) in a local Gun Shop that was in in excellent cond. (95%+) with box and 2 mags. Would anyone have any idea what the value would be? Thanks.

$800 give or take for a NDS/Saxony trade-in. The dust cover would be marked HK - Trusville, AL. If it was a previous import (Chantilly, etc.) and not one of the Police trade-in guns, then it can be $1,000 or more.

at or under $800 would get a second look from me.

many hit the market a couple years back that were refurbished, looked 99.5% and sold under $700. what makes it 95%? scratches, holster wear?

Actually it says HK Trussville, Al. on the left side. After looking at it again, the condition looks more like 97/98%. There are no scratches or holster wear. Maybe it has been refinished. The slide appears to be a different shade than the frame. Thanks for any help - I am new to these P7s and do not know much about them.

Refinish is possible, but I've seen a lot that have a finish on the slide that doesn't match the frame and it's original. Some of the PSP guns have more of a plum color bluing on their frame.

$800 sounds about right for a PSP. Though the closer you get to $1,000, the more I'd recommend looking into a P7M8 (American mag release, larger trigger guard and heat shield, among other differences). A couple of months ago I picked up a P7M8 with 5 mags for $1200 (M8 mags are $60/ea last time I checked) so if you do the math, the gun with 1 mag came out to $960. I personally think the P7M8 is a better gun than the PSP, but I definitely understand the issue of price. They are certainly more expensive than many used pistols.

A "plumb" coloration of the bluing on the slide is normal and happened (IIRC) because of a glitch in the bluing process. If the slide is plumb, there's a very good chance the finish is original.

I haven't checked recently, but a few months ago when I was looking to purchase my P7M8, the PSPs marked at $1,000 had no bids. The only ones moving were the guns that started lower and hit equilibrium around $760-800.

In excellent factory refinished state ( the 'M' or bat-marked logo) ones bring $750+/-50. The P7M8s with Va import address and side magazine release lever bring staggering prices when packed in cheap compact box plus manual, cleaning brush, pin removal screwdriver and test target. The prices for next to useless double stack magazines ones are downright insane close to $2000 or more (mag alone is close to $100).
Must be guys with watches with little gold crown on dial are going nuts for them.
