I may have found a problem with the H&K 2000 pistols. I would to know if anyone else has had a similar problem?

I qualified with my issue H&K 2000 today. Afterwards, when I cleaned it, I could not reassemble the pistol. The slide would not go all the way onto the frame.
I eventually found that a small roll pin, just above the hammer retaining pin would slide out to the left side if I dry fired the pistol without the slide being attached.
It took a small mallet to drive the pin back in. It is the larger of two pins ahead of the hammer and above the hammer retaining pin.

Has anyone else had a problem like this with an H&K 2000 or USP?

I don't have a problem with that on my P2000, but as a rule of thumb: It's a very, very bad idea to dryfire the pistol without the slide on the gun. Without the slide, the frame takes the full force of the hammer dropping.

Oh yea I had the same issue with my USP. I was working the hammer after cleaning the gun in order to work some REM oil into the sear when the sear axle slipped out and shot the control latch across my garage. It took me five days to find that control latch; it had fallen down behind my air compressor. I now always check the position of the pins before moving the hammer.

It happens on my USP compact. For some reason that pin has a lot of play but just keep an eye on it and don't dry fire it without the slide. I did that once and the detente plate flew off and required a trip back to HK to have everything put back:banghead:
