I wrote my Congressman - Butch Otter - and asked him to look at and co-sponsor H.R. 153. I'd urge everyone on this list to do to the same - maybe we can get this thing passed and restore some of our Rights.

Dear Richard,

Thank you for contacting me regarding your support for H.R. 153, the
Second Amendment Protection Act. I appreciate hearing your comments.

As you know, H.R. 153 repeals the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act
and the Public Safety and Recreational Firearms Use Protection Act.
Currently, this bill is under review in the House Committee on the
Judiciary.

Like you I agree these laws have proven ineffective in controlling crimes
with guns and must be repealed. For this reason I have become a cosponsor
of this legislation. You can be confident I will work with my colleagues
to see this bill becomes law during the 108th Congress.

Again, thank you for contacting me. Please continue to keep me informed
of your views on the issues that are important to you.

As always, "Idaho - Esto Perpetua"

Wonderful news. I have letters going in the mail on Tuesday. Ask your rep to support H.R. 325 as well; it provides a tax credit on the purchase of "gun safe storage devices", i.e., safes. It should be an easy slam dunk for Republicans and Democrats alike to support.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I just wrote a similar e-mail to Congressman George Nethercutt, R-WA.

Why would you want to get a tax credit on the purchase of a gun safe? I don't want the government to know that I have a gun safe? I don't want the government to increase my taxes because some guy is buying gun safes?

Why not just have a general tax cut instead? :scrutiny:

The government /already/ knows I own guns.

The government will also soon know I am a collector of C&R.

What do I care if they know I own a safe, too?

tdow,

You need to Fax or write hard copy. If Nethercutt is like most pol's, they rarely read or resond to E mail. Not enough time and the staff just deletes it. They have to do something with a piece of paper.
