Stopped by local sports shop, after discoveriong range was used for the day by hunters ed. Saw interesting revolver in 32 mag, and bought it because like the 32 mag. Seemed well made and used very little. Anyone shoot one of these or handload for one? Never even seen one before. Any good or bad experiences? Hard to resist for ionly $250.

I have a model 586 7.5" also.
Bought it from a friend, who had the 7.5", and a 5.5".
I really wanted the 5.5", because it is a shooter. While the 7.5" is NIB,
I did buy some ammo, but, haven't been able to talk myself into shooting it yet.
I collect H&R's, and the 586 had been on my list for quite awhile.
Just wanted something in 32 H&R mag.

I always said I wouldn't buy anything I wouldn't shoot, but, now I have a few of them!

Can't speak about #'s produced.
I say I will buy it, because I want one to shoot, and still have mine NIB!
They were only offered 1984-1986 though.
Maybe they didn't make thousands of them, or else the people that have them are keeping them!
I've been collecting H&R's for about 4 years, and have only seen 4 or 5 listed.
A couple I wasn't finacially able to purchase at the time. A couple others were not in good enough condition for me to be interested.
Even if I am buying a shooter, if it's not in excellent condition, I'm not intersted, I also really like to buy pieces with the original box, so my choices are limited.
I'll keep looking and find a shooter one of these days!
Or maybe I'll have to break down and take this one out for a test drive before I die!
Please let me know how your test fire turns out. I am really anxious to hear how it shoots.
That may talk me into shooting mine.
It would kind of be a shame to leave the break in to my brothers or sister! LOL

jim-picked it up yesterday. Will likely get to the range this week. Am definetly not going to use any Ruger level loads. Even as a 5 shot, the cylinder walls are much thinner than a Ruger. It came with partial boxs of 32 long and 32 S&W lead loads. A seldom used and seldom cared for revolver, it cleaned up pretty nice. Had to free up the firing pin spring back.

Went to range this week to try it out. Hdy 85 xtps in starline brass, Fed 100 primer and 9.0 grains V V - N110. Had some Meister 94 lrnfp's already loaded, but too long for the H&R's cylinder. Doulble action trigger-way too heavy, combined with sharp trigger edges ruined my limited concentration. Single action pull-similiar to a 2 stage militry rifle trigger, 6 1/2 lbs and fairly clean.
Very good accuracy potential , after getting used to the trigger. Rifling seems cut uniformly as is forcing cone. Elevation adjustment on rear sight easy and reperatable, windage screw frozen. Accuracy comparable to Ruger single six with 6 1/2 barrel. Worth keeping, but need new rear site. Am guessing it would do better with lead loads, as the cylinder throats are just a tad large for the jacketed bullet.
The hammer needs cocked to the first click, to free spin and remove the cylinder to the left.
