A fellow has a H&R breaktop 38 S&W snubbie with a round butt for sale. He is asking $175.00. The revolver is blued with plastic grips. Anybody know much about this particular H&R? I have not seen enough modern H&Rs to be "up" on them. This is a modern breaktop, not a turn of the century antique.

That was a successor to the "Bobby" model they made around 1939 for the English. Following the war H&R offered it in .38 S&W, 5 shot, blue, with 2 1/2 or 4 inch barrels. If it is in particularly nice shape the price is on the high side but reasonable. Not a whole lot of people looking for these. I'd see if I could talk the seller down a bit - unless you REALLY want it. They were the last of H&R .38 top-breaks.

Thanks Old Fuff! The Bobby was a oversized wooden gripped square butt IIRC. The round butt on this revolver is similar to a birds head grip. I usually hold out for nickel finishes but, this is interesting in form. I wonder if I could find wooden grips for it?
